Resident 2006 - 2013

4/23/2013

I've lived in Bexley Village since 2006 and I've done nothing but stick up for and defend them on this site every time someone wrote a bad review but Bexley Village has changed since I moved in. *Please note that I do not HATE Bexley Village like some people have mentioned below, and I don't mind living here!* Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and and that is what this site is for! I have reviewed each individual section below. Parking: Parking can be a problem if you don't have a car port which rent for $25 a month. The biggest problems are when residents have parties and when it snows. In the 7 years I have lived here I have never seen Bexley pre-treat the sidewalks or parking lot when snow or ice is predicted. They wait until the storm has started or is finished before clean up starts. When people start driving on the snow it packs it down and makes the parking lot a pain to drive in not to mention it only does wonders for your struts and suspension. Bexley is also very dark at night. The club house is lit up well at night but the parking lot lacks street lights and therefore poses a concern for safety. There have been several car break ins and even parts stolen from trucks since I have lived here. Noise: Bexley isn't noisy itself, its your neighbors or the unattended kids playing around the ponds. Bexley also has a large Canadian Goose population that do nothing but make noise and messes. Though the interstate is very close, you don't hear it at all! Grounds: Bexley Villages landscaping lacks design, color and creativity. Some of the pine trees are half dead and not taken care of. Many of the pine trees are also infested with bag worms and several trees and bushes have tree saplings of a different species growing out of them. The grass is green, but be careful where you walk! It is required that you pick up after your animals, but most people do not! They even make it easy for you and have provided dog walking stations! The Canadian Geese leave crap all over the grass and on the sidewalks and it never gets cleaned up. The geese also carry intestine worms. I discovered they did after taking my dogs to the vet and their fecal tests tested positive for worms. My vet asked if the dogs were near birds. He said the verse are the problem and suggested I wash my dogs paws after every walk! Yuck! Its not that my dogs eat the poop, but the step in it or traces of it and may lick their paws. The backs of the buildings are covered in spider webs and bugs and even though Bexley has been asked to clean them, they have never done so. Safety: Again, Bexley lacks sufficient outdoor lighting making it very dark at night. I do know of a couple of apartment break ins, but they were on the first floor. Cars have been broken into as well and have had their windows smashed in. Bexley did replace their outdoor lights on the buildings by the front doors, however street lights would make a huge improvement. Construction: (Built in 1999-2000) Bexley is showing its age! The roofs are faded and missing shingles. The shutters are faded and mold grows on the siding in some areas which is a nightmare for people with allergies. Cracks in the ceilings in the apartments are less than attractive. The windows are cheap double pane windows and do not do too good of a job keeping the cold/hot out. The appliances are basic and nothing to write home about. Bexley has a water softener but the water quality is awful. Rust and lime residue are something you will enjoy battling in the bathrooms and in the dishwasher. I have lived here for a long time because it is convenient, but I have signed my last lease with Bexley and will be moving out of state when my current lease is up.
