Resident 2013 - 2014

9/8/2014

I would not recommend living here. I am a current resident who is counting down the days until my lease is up in April. I have felt unwelcome since the beginning. I moved in and the carpet was torn out of my closet. i asked if that could be replaced and the response was: "if that is really important to you, then we can do that, but it will take some time. Probably a couple of weeks." Even though I requested this upon signing my lease. Not unreasonable to have carpet. My water heater did not work the first week I was here. I kept calling for repairs, they would "fix" it and i would go to take a shower and the water would be cold. The third time I called i told them this was grounds for breaking my lease. The next day they provided a new water heater. (thankful at least for that) They also tracked mud all over the white carpeting while doing that. I have lived here a year and a half, but that did not stop my car from nearly being towed at 3AM while I was out of town for work. Fortunately, my fiance was at the apartment and ran to stop it. He still had to pay 80 dollars to avoid having it towed since the towing company "could not see my parking pass" which was hanging in my rearview mirror. Darby court had the tow company reimburse my fiance, but he had to drive to the other side of town to be reimbursed. If you have any visitors at darby court, they must park in the visitor lot facing the high way to avoid being towed, but honestly, after this experience I don't even trust that. They have a shark company towing cars here. I also have two dogs, both of which I paid the pet deposit for and both of which are under 40 pounds. While walking my dogs, a manager (the fourth one we have had so far) whizzed by in his golf cart and asked if I was a resident and if I had paid my pet deposit on both dogs. I explained that I did, told him where I lived, etc. I felt interrogated and unwelcome in a neighborhood I have lived in for a year and a half. Of course he confirmed that I was in fact a resident and had paid for my dogs. There is more I can share, but I will leave it at that. We have less and less neighbors every day and I think it is a testament to the fact that this place does not treat residents with respect. Especially, the ones who pay their rent diligently, take care of the property and abide by the rules. I wish I never re-signed, I did it more out of convenience, because I did not want to deal with moving at the time. If you are looking for a place that is safe, then I will say we have had no safety issues thus far, but that is the only positive review I have.
