Resident 2014 - 2015

7/26/2015

Somerset Oaks is honestly -the- best place I've ever lived. I say this for multiple reasons. 1) Safety: I'm a single female, which means I live on my own. I have always felt safe in the apartment and in the areas surrounding the apartment complex. I can easily go get something from my car at midnight and not feel anxiety whatsoever. 2) Spacious: I live in a one bedroom (the Chelsea). Although the living room is smaller than I'd like (as my sectional couch filled most of the space), the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are all spacious. There is more than enough storage space as well. 3) Location: The apartment is in proximity to everything. Target, AMC Theatres, and Whole Foods are 5 minute drives. Wal-Mart and Hyvee are 10 minute drives. Everything will deliver to you (Papa John's, Marco's Pizza, Jimmy John's, and a number of Chinese places). In addition, I-35 is just a few minutes away. 4) Rapport: The management staff know my name, building number, and apartment number. They call me by name when I come in, which is probably just one or two times a month. I can't say that many other leasing companies take the time to remember your name. It's nice when I have a package and they don't ask who I am or where I live. Now, that's not to say that I don't have my qualms about the apartment. My apartment overlooks the pool, so the residents and the music at the pool can get loud during the day. My bathroom door doesn't lock (but I don't close the door since I live alone, anyway). My storage closet on the balcony will sometimes swing open if it gets windy outside. Sometimes, it takes me 10 minutes to turn on the light in the kitchen during the summer months, only (I suspect there's a wiring problem). During the winter months, my water heater smelled like sulfur. I have to use Plumbr on the drain in the tub once a month (the plug doesn't come all the way off, so I can't see what's clogging the drain). Even with all those little annoyances (that I honestly could have called maintenance about, but they just didn't bother me enough to do so), Somerset Oaks is still the best place I've lived.
