Resident 2012 - 2013

3/22/2015

Great prices attract you and will swindle you in but don't rent these apartments. When I walked through the apartment it wasn't spacious but it was within my budget and I had just moved out here from Indiana where I had rented a house for 15 years for under $600. It's expensive to live out here so I accepted it knowing my daughter would be able to eventually get a job and we could move to a roomier place. Prior to this apartment I had never lived in an apartment complex so I didn't know about cockroaches. That was my mistake I should have looked on top of the kitchen cabinets. It took a few months before i realized they were everywhere. I kept a tidy apartment and really never unpacked anything except the necessities because let's be honest I'm lazy and I knew I wouldn't extend my lease past the 1 year I initially signed. Although I'm told all the time I don't know what the ------ is but coming from a very small town where I could leave my doors unlocked and I never heard anyone's business in the middle of the night that's what this was to me. I had never experienced being told and having a write up because I had music on outside passed 10pm. It took a couple of months for the cockroaches to all come out because at first I only saw 1 or two occasionally. When they did I put those little traps out or whatever they are and when I went to out some on top of the cabinet guess what I found a bunch of those that apparently were placed there from the prior attendant. I was freaked immediately and mad because the issue was apparently known and the complex didn't take care of the issue regardless of their bugman every 3 months. Also, from the get go there where like 5 outlets that didn't work or not installed correctly cuz my cord always fell out when plugged in. Issue never fixed. Everything thing in the apartment minus the appliances in the kitchen were the cheapest and poorly installed. 1 of my bedroom doors locked and we didn't have the key for it and I put in a service order it took me almost 2 months before it got fixed. When maintence finally came and unlocked I was told he was ordering a new door because that one was so old it was hard to even find the key for it. It never got replaced and the door locked up again so I figured out how to disassemble the handle myself and just left it like that. Also I had no heat or air n 1 of my bedrooms they came and looked at it said it was fixed nope it wasn't . I have heard rentals prices have gone up but if you are looking at price it's not worth it. Cockroaches alone should be enough to make you not want to rent there they are the worst and nastiest things to get rid of you'll most likely want to replace everything because it's been infested but yet the apartment complex will scramble to try and find any little thing they can to charge you more once you move out. So not worth it.
