Resident 2008

4/21/2008

Back in October of 2007 I started looking around for a 1 bedroom apartment and had come across Campus Court on a website and it was stating all of these GREAT things that they had and offered tanning an indoor basketball court and a computer lab so I called and talked to the manager at that time. I asked what amenities there were and she tells me of all of these great things free cable and internet, there will be washers and dryers in every unit new kitchen appliances, stainless steel. I was excited thinking wow these are great, so my mom and I came to look at the apartments needing to see a 1 bedroom we were only able to see a two bedroom which was ABSOLUTELY NOT what what described to me. After asking the manager about why those new things were not in that apartment she told me that it was because they would be starting renovations on the apartments at the end of that month. She proceeds to tell me that when I move in January 1st that the apartment that I would be moving into WOULD have all of those NEW appliances. Taking her word for it I signed the lease, once my parents returned from Tenn. they went and signed the guarantor for my lease everything changed. I called her to ask her the numbers to get my utilities hooked up about 2 weeks before I was to move in, and in the midst of her giving me the water co. number and the electric company's number she told me I needed to call and get the cable and internet turned on, Being confused I asked why and she told me that at that point they were not offering free internet and cable but that it would be installed by the end of the month, it is the end of April and I am still paying $60 a month for a utility I was told would be supplied for free. At that point I should have known then it was not going to be great. I move in and everything goes smoothly for about 2 or 3 weeks, by mid January the construction had started, what used to be plenty of parking for the residents has now turned into a war zone. They have replaced parking lots with buildings, inches (literally) of mud, pieces of broken wood, screws, dry wall shattered on the ground, and now a huge red dumpster like thing sits in the road. I took the parking in BFE... and walking forever to my apartment for a while. When leaving for work this morning at 7 Am there were around 5 or 6 open parking spaces, and when I returned this morning I went to park in front of my building and all of the normally open parking spaces were filled with the construction workers PERSONAL vehicles. I feel that the people who ACTUALLY live here and pay rent here should be able to park close to their buildings. I feel as a common courtesy that the construction workers need to park in the less used spaces. If you wonder how I know that those vehicles belong to the construction workers I get home every weekday around 6:30 as the all pile in the vehicles and head home. I am sick of CONSTANT hammering from 7 am to 7 pm, I am tired of my vehicle being covered in mud as every time rains you practically wade through a pond a brown water, I think that if we have to walk through it let the workers do the same, they have recently been sporting 2 new golf carts, to transport themselves around (MUST BE NICE) The lack of light in this area is ridiculous, ever since they have constructed a monstrous new building any outside source of light has been taken away, and there have been MANY occasions that I have walked outside at night and LITERALLY can not see my hand in front of my face to walk down my stairs. I am aggravated, with the fact that I was lied to from the beginning when it WAS owned by Pinnacle and was officially campus court, the owners and workers need to stop pushing the blame off on everyone else and they need to do SOMETHING.... Make life a little more comfortable for the people paying the overly priced Rent without the amenities promised.. Someone recently came around posting flyers on everyones door asking them to come to this website and rate campus court, it was either 1 day or two days later they made the laundry facility free. One small thing in the list of everything wrong...
