Resident 2012 - 2013

4/7/2013

Awful. I did not move in expecting royal treatment, as I was transferring from a dormitory. But this is ludicrous. To keep it short, avoid this place. It may seem charming, but I can assure you it is NOT. Here is my full review: Building: These buildings are old and not kept very well. Upon moving in, I noticed cracks by the windows and separation in the carpet by the wall. I was assured this would not affect me. First two months were spent living with bugs consequently. Bugs are a big problem here. Especially since there is a rotting tree outside my apartment that nothing is being done about. And poor insulation of the apartments leads to LOTS of bugs and high heating/cooling bills. I've a one bedroom and am very conservative about use of electricity. Still, my heating bill went up over $80 per month this past winter due to the cracks and separation. I requested that they insulate my windows, but they were extraordinarily rude. Parking: Managers don't enforce the parking. My neighbor has friends over all the time that take up the tenant spots. Noise: My neighbors are terribly noisy - moreso than my dorm neighbors, and they were LOUD. I have issued several complaints, and still, after 10 months of living here, nothing. And it's not just a little bit of noise either. It's bass that continues through the night and drum practice at freakin' 2 in the morning. I've attempted to approach my neighbors kindly about this, but their response is "Not my problem. Go talk to the manager." This leads me to think that certain people are excused from common courtesy by the manager. Something to take into account if you're moving in: There is a train not far from this complex. You can definitely hear, and sometimes feel, it. The age of this building lets you hear when your neighbor is taking a shower or when their alarm goes off. Oh, and the pets around here are terribly loud. Facilities Safety: Washers/dryers are not good for your clothes. I've ruined so many good pieces here. And it's $3 for one small load of washing drying! Light outside laundry facility doesn't always come on, making it a tad bit unsafe. The grounds just look terrible. Safety lights were not working for a good part of this past winter. Tenants leave trash, like cans and napkins, outside often and you can find it a month later. Gross. There is a pool, but it's pretty small. Look at how many buildings there are. That pool gets packed. With little kids. Who are rude. Last summer, I went through three of those pool bed floats. I'd only use it when the pool wasn't packed so as to be courteous. Little kids would steal it from under me. And their parents did not say a thing. It's just disgusting. Staff: Managers are rude, except for when you're looking to move in. Maintenance is laughable. One guy will come and do something. The other guy will come later and undo what the first guy did because it was wrong and dangerous. Overall a terrible apartment complex. I'd much rather be living in a dormitory again. I'm just waiting for my lease to expire. Don't get caught up in the good looks of the nice model they show you. First floor isn't anywhere near as glamorous, and the noise is just not worth it. *Another thing. You can barely hear the storm sirens from this complex.
