This is about as honest as I can be: * Note * I do not live here, I only looked at this apartment complex, never signed a lease.... Here is why... I'm relocating to the Baltimore area from out of state for work. I gave the financial information / pricing goals of mine to the information center and they stated which apartments in the community would fit my budget, awesome. Cranbrook was one of them along with maybe 4 others. The most important thing I hope people know is that the "models" you get to look at right away are VERY nice. The actual apartments are NOT. I looked at 5 complexes in one day and came back the next day because I thought Cranbrook was THE ONE. I was so sold.... it fit my budget, there was lots of space, it looked really clean...... And then I asked if I could go see a vacant apartment that I would potentially be living in if I signed a lease. The leasing consultant gave me 3 sets of keys. I can go see all of them, and then I can choose the location/floor that I liked best. Ok, cool. (Side note - they do NOT take you into the vacant apartments, you go by yourself and drive there because they "have so many rentals we can't take people there, we just let you go by yourself"... umm ok?) So I go to the first one that has been "CLEANED".... that's funny. It reeked of cigarettes. I swear, it was disgusting. The walls were filthy. I ran my finger down the wall and it was BLACK. The corners of every room / the carpet are torn up/old/damaged/filled with dirt&crumbs. No thanks..... on to the next one. I go in to the next one.... again it reeked of cigarettes... But something was different in this one.... Why is the screen door WIDE OPEN? Why is there a spoon on the counter? Why is a light on in the freezer? Why is there a frozen dinner in the freezer? Why is there a backpack in the closet? Why do I hear someone moving in the bedroom? Oh... that's right... because someone had broken in to this vacant apartment and started living there. I had never sprinted so fast in my life! You know I didn't even bother going to the third "vacant" apartment. * Make sure you are not alone when you look at apartments. I'm 23. I'm relocating from 6 hours away. Make sure you check out vacant units before you sign a lease. Drive around the area, look at the cars, look at the people*. Unfortunately, with apartment hunting, you sometimes have to judge the book by its cover. Also - the tenants here really like to leave the doors open with extension cords so they can work on their cars...... long story short - this place is dirty and the models are just a scam. I would never live here. I don't care how affordable they are. They are dirty and clearly unsafe since there is NO security.
