Resident 2001 - 2003

5/6/2003

OMG--I´m getting out of here, FOR GOOD...

I first moved into Ashley Apts in 2001 with my roommate. We were both from out of state and very very very nieve. This would be the first apt we ever had for both of us.

Then it started...

First, we received a letter claiming we didn´t pay rent on time. Excuse me? Um, we both majored in ACCOUNTING and are both AUDITORS...we think we can figure out when to pay our rent, and we did--ON TIME. The leasing office somehow "lost" our rent checks. They don´t give reciepts for rent--YOU MUST ASK. We made them pay the fee for cancellation of our checks that they lost, but still had to argue about the whole fact that they don´t have good internal control over money.

Secondly, parking is outrageous. They made 30 visitor parking spaces in front of my apt building into 10 spaces instead. They claim that the person living in the apt can come to pick up a parking pass for overnight guests that cannot park in the visitor parking spaces. Well, that´s fine and dandy--except the leasing office is only open until 6...and what happens if you can´t get home in time to get a pass? The lady at the leasing office told me when I took in my notice to leave that you can call ahead and one of the maintenance guys will put the pass on your door for you so you´ll have a pass by the time you get home--told her WELL YOU NEVER MADE THAT APPARENT.

They claim the walls are "sound proof." They won´t hear your complaints about noisy neighbors because they pride themselves on the fact that they have sound proof construction. Um, ok, how about the fact that I can hear my neighbor downstairs playing music until 3 am every night???

Complaints aren´t allowed unless they are in writing. Who has the time to write up every complaint at this place?? AND, will they do anything about it???

Walkways are not lit properly.

Don´t get me started on the pool----when I moved in, they didn´t have ID cards, now everyone must show an ID to swim...and have their pic on the ID. The pool is only open for the Summer 2003 on certain days...and there will be no lifeguards...

All in all, I´m moving on and getting out....I don´t recommend this place at all.
