Resident 2007 - 2014

1/8/2014

Rent goes up. Utilities go up. Yet... building always attempts minimal repairs possible: plumbing underneath building always leaking sewage. Laundry room machines leaks when draining instead of into proper plumbing. Leaks keep popping up. Roof air vents do not draw up bathroom/kitchen. Residents are not required to harass building for these repairs. Street side walk outside is not equipped for the handicapped and the one out front of entrance only has one ramp, which people are constantly parked in front of. This is what we are paying rent for! We are getting charged for all utilities where is the money going precisely? Are we getting charged an average instead of what we are actually using? The apartment does not know how to run their books properly or they are utilizing shady practices because despite paying them what they charge you, they will come back to you later saying you "owe." An oops or something more? Having their current tenants make up for rent skipped by someone else? Getting more cash to help pay for the ugly brown tiles they haven't put down yet? Either way, you should not charge someone something after the fact when you paid what you were told to pay. Obviously we can bring up our bank statements. What are the chances then that they will take our security deposit when we try to move out? Hard to trust them at all. Elevators do break down and although they are frequently used, building is not likely to be keeping up with the necessary routine maintenance on elevators. If they have high usage, then you are required to adapt to that. If they don't have the elevators routinely tinkered with they will break down-- again. There are elderly and handicapped people here. Yet, they want to slap some fresh paint, wall paper, and tiles down to sooth tensions? We want working and safe facilities-- not neon blue or green paint stripes and new d cor for the office waiting area. Some neighbors do not even attempt to keep music volume at reasonable levels-- or one might hear banging on bedroom wall at 11 pm. We have been hearing what sounds like a bowling ball on hardwood floors and construction going above us on and off for over a year. "Certain" unpleasant odors come wafting in under the front door to the apt on a daily basis. Sure, I bet they have "medical" explanations for it. Many tenants do not have a once of concern for the building as it is almost always messy and it is near impossible for the cleaning crew to keep up after them. How many times have kids carved words into the walls? How can anyone call this home? I would not recommend it. Try a place with less floors, more reliable business repairs, and with management that does not come after you for more cash-- after you already paid.
