My husband and I searched for apartments over the phone and 600 miles away from East Lansing. We were living in a house outside of Tampa, Florida when we decided to move back to Michigan. Neither of us had ever lived in East Lansing, so we didn´t know what to expect. We both had lived in "college" apartments while attending CMU and WMU. After living in a house, the last thing you want to do is move back into a "college" apartment. Anyway, we´d read what was posted on this site and while a little worried, we realized that there were almost 500 apartments and if only a few people were unhappy, it wasn´t the norm. It´s to be expected. Not everyone is going to be happy all of the time.
We rented an apartment over the phone and arrived in November with our 15´ truck packed to the gills and with our car in tow, also packed. There was really no turning back. I didn´t have too many expectations as to what I was going to move into, but I was surprised at how nice they were. After we got all of our stuff in and organized it really started to feel like home. I haven´t had any big problems. Sure, there were a few things that I wanted fixed, and when it got fixed it was fine. I love that I don´t hear everyone´s conversations in the next apartment or hear them walking around upstairs. My apartment feels like a smaller version of my house, not the dreaded “college” apartment.
As I read through these complaints, and after having lived here a few months now, I realized a few things. One, the people that "vent" on here don´t have the guts to say who they are, so there´s no way for Brandywine to redeem themselves. Two, some people are just plain stupid and others just like to complain. Finally, home is what you make of it. The reason your halls stink is because your neighbors don´t throw away their garbage, so talk to them about respecting the building you live in. The people that try to fix things for you don´t have ESP, so if you don´t tell them what’s wrong, they´ll never know to come and fix it. Sure, you might have to remind them, but there´s a way to do it and a way NOT to do it.
I love my apartment. I made the right decision by moving to Brandywine Creek. My husband and I have made it into a home and I am very happy here.
