Resident 2013 - 2014

5/22/2015

Review from two leaseholders continued: After this event, I contacted the veteran agency who was assisting me with rent at the time and they intervened and demanded it be replaced. I refused to allow them in my apartment without my presence. They said they could go into my apartment whenever they so choose under "imminent domain laws." LOL. As you can tell, they try to intimidate residents into submission. They funny thing is that clearly,Brittany is uneducated and was hoping I was as well. Imminent domain is for government agencies only. SMH. The dishwasher was finally replaced. But guess who I'm willing to bet had to pay for a new one? (they moved my dishwasher into another apartment for another resident to have to deal with) I'm willing to bet other residents who are told they had to have their fridge and dishwasher replaced AFTER move out and charged for it,pay to replace the non working appliances, such as mine. Lastly, good luck having hot water consistently at any given point in the year. If you call and tell them, they say "we've never had that complaint before." Yet, you can see it is a common issue in the other reviews and neighbors talk to each other and my neighbors have the same issues. If you want to be nice in cool in your rooms in the summer - forget it. The vents to the rooms do not carry the air and you have to crank your AC down to 60 so the main apartment gets cold enough that it eventually gets to your room. Please expect electric bills of 200-300 dollars to compensate for their poor duct systems. The blinds literally fall off at the slightest touch - just opening and closing the blinds will do this. They charge YOU 5 dollars per blind To replace their old and unstable blinds. God forbid you have an animal (I didnt, but my neighbor did). If you take your dog for a walk, even with a doggie bag, and it goes to the bathroom outside of the designated pet area - they will fine you. YES,I confirm that the maitenance staff will come into your apartment without your permission or awareness. Lastly, upon move out, I was using my phone video camera to record the walk out after all of these shady experiences. Brittany refused to do the walk through with the video running. They stated it wss illegal. Actually,it's not (I was working for a law firm, I should know). Until you turn over your keys, there is no expectation of privacy in YOUR apartment. They literally walked out of the walk through, put about 20 things on my checkout (I had pictures and recorded the place before I left and gave them they key - it was impeccable) AFTER I turned in the keys. The kicker: I saw them going back to do the walk through without me there and followed them, video in hand, to prove that they were doing a walk through without my presence. The maitenance manager LITERALLY grabbed my phone out of my hand. (Why are they so afraid for a resident to have documentation of the walk out? This is assault. Yes, I called the police and filed a report. I didn't file charges - yet. One more thing, I paid rent late ONCE. On the 6th day, they charged me attorney fees - illegal. Yes, it saus in the lease they can charge you attorney fees of 130 dollars. However, they cannot charge you attorney fees unless they have actually incurred the cost. That can't happen until after the issue you a 7 day notice that they will take you to court, at which time they will incur attorney fees. So, they can't charge you attorney fees until AT LEAST the 15th of the month and ONLY after they have submitted a judgement to the courts. This is just another way they illegal scam residents Out of money. With lies and false charges. Folks, this staff are insane bullies. If you do not submit to their unprofessional and abusive behavior, they will make your life a living he'll while you are there. They place you call "home"becomes a hostile and uncomfortable experience. PLEASE take the advice of those who have come before you and do not move here. There is a legal agency that is monitoring their lease/deposit/Sureity deposit practices. I fullyanticipate that they their practices are going to ve investigated for fraudulent practices - targeted at students and low income especially. For the record, I fought every single moveout charge with my emails, pictures, and videos. I won and didn't pay a dime, which is how it should have always been. I recommend every renter to Google landlord/tenant handbook which provides the laws, and the forms to respond to their charges with legal documents and the required timeframes. Make sure you video yourself handing them the documents so they can't say you didn't hand them to them in the required time frame. DO NOT LIVE HERE. The "good" comments are from residents that the staff ASKED them to put here to offset the honest reviews that say this place HORRIBLE - an absolute nightmare. If you need something taken care of - you become a target and they will tell you "if you don't like it, you can move out" - which is a 1200 break lease fee. They knkw they have you by the balls and will treat you accordingly. Good luck! I hope this helps prospective residents make the right decision and helps former residents with knowledge of their scams.
