Resident 2006 - 2010

1/14/2010

I've lived at Summer Ridge for 3 years. I currently am living here but plan on moving when my lease is up. The only reason I've stayed as long as I did is because I hate moving...especially in the winter. The apartments look nice, inside and out. I love having the washer and dryer in my unit. Sidewalks are plowed in a timely. The community in itself is pretty quiet. It's back off the main road and I've felt safe here. The office workers are rather friendly. They know their neighbors by name and face. They are very courteous when you go into the office. However, the building I stay in, my apartment (I can't speak about anyone elses) is very poorly insulated. The bedrooms get very cold in the winter causing me to have to turn the heat up higher than I would like which in turn causes me to pay a high gas bill. The closet in the master bedroom is also very cold because it shares a wall with the outdoors and the outdoor storage and it apparently isn't insulated. It leaks! They claim to have done roof work on this building a few years ago but every winter (or rainy season) it leaks. When the temperatures warm up and begin to melt the snow...it leaks. The bathroom in the master bedroom has leaked (causing damage). The entry way has leaked. The second bedroom has leaked and just recently started leaking because some snow melted. You can hear your neighbors conversations while they are in their apartments, on their balconies...you ear everything. If your neighbor smokes, guess what...yep, you smell it inside of your apartments behind closed doors and windows! I, fortunately live on the third floor (I feel sorry for my neighbors below me) so I don'thave noise above me but I hear it from the sides. As considerate as I try to be I still get the knocks on the ceiling. The pet owners do not pick up after their pets. This can't be blamed on management...wait, yes it can because they do not enforce rules. Parking is horrible!!! The cost of carports and garages are very expensive. Oh, and you have to pay for all of your utilities. Yes you know this when you move in but who pays $30 a month for water...in an apartment?! I don't believe homeowners pay that much.
