They just may sue you!!

I'll be honest, my year at the aparment did not differ much from any of the other apartments I've lived in. Crazy neighbors happen everywhere, and if you're going to live in an apartment you'd better expect from noise. Maitenance was ok, although one time the guy just seemed fat and lazy...he blamed my slow draing bath tub on the high water pressure. Yes that may have had soemthing to do with it but I even so I don't think I should have been ankle deep in water a mere minute into my shower. The guy could have at least looked at my drain instead of hearing the complaint and giving me that lousy excuse when he didn't even go into the bathroom to check it out!! Anyway, what really peeves me about this complex was the experiance when I left. They wanted to charge me full price to replace the carpet. This would be fine, if it was ligitimate!! But the carpet was no where near new when I moved in and it was definatly not dirty beyond normal wear and tear when we moved out. We never spilled anything and we were always sure to take of shoes as soon as we stepped in the door. We didnt have any pets to ruin the carpet either, so I'm guessing that the carpet was just due for a changing and they decided to pin the charges on us. Anyway, when I called them to try to ask about the charges, no one in the office would help me. I got a phone number to someone else. I called that number and only got a message that consisted of an email address. So they wouldn't even talk to me on the phone!! I sent three emails before I got a responce, in which I was told the charges would not go to collection until the next month...so I decided I'd get some legal advice. TWO DAYS LATER I got a summons saying I was getting sued by the apartment. So bottom line, I was lied to and falsly charged about these carpet charges. I've never had these problems with the three complexes I've prevously rented with, the most I've ever gotten was a $70 carpet cleaning charge which I have no problem paying and those apartments even gave me new carpet when I moved in! I have learned one lesson through this, whenever you go to move out of a place you a renting, video tape every last square inch of the place before you leave so you have some evidence that the place was left in good shape when you left. Oh yeah, I also learned to never never never let anyone I know make the mistake of moving into Cass Lake Shore Club.
