I live in Southwind still. I received a notice that I had to renew my lease. Odd because I just signed a lease 3 months prior for a 15 month lease(because I have been happy so far in the last 3 years). When I called the office to find out what was going on, I was told my lease is up today and what I had signed 3 months ago was a 3 month lease. Ok, I'll sign a 12 month now. We are raising your rent $50/month was her response. I have a 5 week old son and have no choice but to sign a new lease of $819 for a small 1 bedroom. I have a very loud booming voice which the manager insisted was a yelling voice, so she banged the receiver on the desk, when she returned she told me to stop blaming her for me having a 5 week old and needing to find less expensive accomodations.
Up until today, I have wholeheartedly recommended Southwind to all of my friends and family. To date, there are 6 residents living here that I referred. I received a $100 rent credit for one!
From this day forth, I will warn everyone I come in contact with to stay away. Which will undoubtedly hurt Southwind, as I talk with dozens of people everyday! I am a mechanic, and who else do you go for advice about anything?
