Resident ā€¢ 2004 - 2005

I can not stress how much the new management is upsetting the tenants here. When we moved in the old management company, the office, and maintenance personal were very nice, organized, and got things done in a prompt and professional manner. Then about 4 months into our lease the complex was sold to Main Street Companies, Inc. This sounds like a fancy name but thatā€™s all it is. It is truly a hole in the wall run by some idiots in St. Louis Park. The parking lot has a sticker policy that made sense till the new owners took over. Yellow for outside parking and blue for garage parking. Made perfect sense to me and I didn't think this was that big of a deal till one day my wife parked her car (yellow sticker) in a visitors parking spot (which were put up by the new company and there are at least 16 of them) because the parking lot was full (due to two u-hauls and a landscaping truck and trailer) and since it was 10pm and the office was closed she thought that it would be ok to park there for an hour or two. When I got home at 11:30pm from work my wife asked me if there was any parking spots open and I said yes so we went down to move her car. We found out that her car had been towed. The reason you might ask? Because, she is a tenant and she parked in guest parking. ThatĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s what the towing company said. The next morning and $325 dollars later we got her car back. I walked into the office and asked to be reimbursed for them towing the car. The manager laughed in my face and said that it was our fault for parking there. She continued to say that the parking policy was in the tenant handbook and that getting issued a sticker does not guarantee you a spot since parking is a privilege and not a right. I had a JAG lawyer look over the "handbook" and the lease. They said that the parking section was written so vaguely that they can not enforce the towing since there is no mention of guest parking anywhere in the contract. I didn't want to bring this to court since it would have been a huge waste of time. Now I am kind of kicking myself for not doing it. My wife is not the only one that has gotten towed. Tenants parked in the proper spot with a proper sticker have been towed due to there being snow on the windshield and the parking lot personal not brushing off the snow to look for a sticker before calling the towing company. Maintenance is a joke too. My neighbors ceiling in the bathroom fell in on him when he was in the shower because his upstairs neighborĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s toilet sewage pipe sprung a leak. It took the maintenance guy 3 days to come out and look at it and another month to have it repaired. If you ever bring up any type of an issue to the manager do not be surprised if she turns to her assistant says something in another language and then they both start laughing at you. This has happed to at least 4 different tenants that I know of. I was so shocked when it happened to me that I walked right out the door. I was so glad when our lease was up we could not wait to leave this hell hole.
