This property is now called "The Retreat at McAlpine Creek."

I moved here in 2003 on a tight budget (just out of college), and I have to say my three years have been satisfactory. Looking back, I have no regrets.

SAFETY: Other than the price, I chose this complex because it was in a great part of town and I felt comfortable with my surroundings. I must say there have been more police officers around lately, but I have never felt unsafe -- and I work nights so I come home at like midnight. There are a lot of families here -- at least where I'm at -- and I've always felt safe.

QUALITY: They've totally renovated the exterior of the buildings, resurfaced the parking lot and put in new landscaping. It looks nice. The apartments themselves are a little on the old side, but they're not falling apart too much. Just check your unit before moving in.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Maintenance has been awesome every time I've needed them. My hot water heater broke during a snowstorm, flooding my carpet, but the guys still came out in the snowstorm and helped me out -- even after they even crashed into a ditch.

NOISE: I'm near the pool, so obviously it's a high-traffic area. As far as neighbors go, it's been hit or miss over the years. It's usually very quiet, but my latest neighbor does like his bass -- and I used to have a heavy couple above me that must have had a reeeal creaky bed. But those were extreme sounds and in the minority. You just have to get lucky, I guess.
