Resident 2010 - 2012

2/19/2012

Dog-friendly complex and fellow-residents are helpful and friendly. They allow even large dogs. There is a pet-deposit, part of which is refundable - which is a departure from the norm that I encountered at most places while searching for a place to reside with my older 30-lb terrier. They have plenty of doggie "pick-up" stations strategically located around the property. Since the complex isn't located near other complexes or neighborhoods, we don't have a lot of people who don't reside here wandering around, which makes me feel quite safe - I sometimes walk my dog late at night and have never had any issues. Not the best place for young-ish children as there are few places for them to play nearby. A HUGE plus is the close proximity of many places to shop and eat, as well as quick access to both I540 and I440. The very nice staff members generally take your concerns seriously and are quick to address them, particularly noisy neighbors and repairs. The apartments are well-kept, so I've required very few repairs during the year and a half I've lived here. The grounds are kept free of trash via daily pick-up walk-thrus by maintenance. My only quibble is that they don't watch for, or address vehicles with long-ago expired out-of-state tags or that are obviously in-operable in a timely manner. For example, there's a vehicle near my place that hasn't moved for months, and now has a flat tire - several residents have mentioned it to the office, and it's still there. There was another one with NJ tags expired in 2007 that finally got taken care of last week after numerous mentions to office staff. While walking my dog recently, I saw a vehicle with a Rhode Island tag that expired in 2008. With parking being somewhat inadequate, it would help if staff were proactive in watching for these, and take action to alert the vehicle owners to update the tags or remove the vehicles. They also are not good about enforcing the "number of vehicles allowed per rental-unit" rule. In the past few months, people moved into a town-home across the way from mine, and these folks routinely have in excess of 4 vehicles parked in front of their place, one of which is marked as a work vehicle. This is forcing nearby renters to have to park farther away from their units. Neighbors have complained to the office, so far to no avail. However, these minor concerns don't affect the overall excellent quality of living experience here at Beachwood Park, and I'm far from alone. I know firsthand that several of my neighbors have moved recently, but not to other complexes - it was either to downsize or go to a less-expensive apartment. My rent went from $650 to $700 when I renewed last November.
