At least two buildings in this complex are currently completely infested with cockroaches. Over the past few years the problem has been getting worse. From talking to other residents it seems like this is affecting the entire complex. By infestation, I mean seeing multiple roaches per day, having babies in our apartment, entire visible populations living in our water heater closet. We tried everything before I moved out. Chemicals, DIY solutions, natural solutions. The management was somewhat helpful in sending people to spray our apartment, but it does not work. It's not a matter of keeping the place clean. It has just gotten to the point where these roaches are living in the walls of these older buildings. When moving out, at least 10 roaches traveled with me to my new apartment and that was after being careful and washing everything beforehand. Its not worth it to take the risk of moving in unless you know your building has been roach free for over a year. We starting seeing roaches 6 months in and our problem never went away over the next 2 years.
Other than the roaches, the location is great for NCSU students. Its very safe compared to other places I lived on a student budget. Mostly other students live here and the price is great. But you do get what you pay for. The management is very lenient with subletting to others and having guests. However, they are very slow and sometimes rude when it comes to maintenance. All of the appliances, showers, etc, are pretty old, cheapest grade. Not high quality and even after you befriend the maintenance workers, they come unannounced and sometimes do not correctly fix your problem. Great price, but with the current roach problem, these apartments are not sanitary or livable spaces.
