Resident 2010 - 2011

7/1/2011

I'm currently living here, and after only 3 months here, I decided I will NOT be renewing my lease. I've had far too many problems with this complex- The apartments look great until you move in and realize that every thing's been put together to hold just for show and will break as soon as you move in. It took me losing my temper with the office before they finally came out and replaced the faucet in the bathroom sink (after having them come out 4 different times) and I was accused of walking too heavily across my floor and causing the downstairs ceiling lamp to fall off (um what?! i'd say that's probably not my fault given how awful this place is.) I had to lose it with the office again before they came out to replace the drain stopper in the bathtub (which required ripping out the wall in the closet- it would've been nice if the office had given us a heads up to clear out the closet ourselves rather than their maintenance people dumping the contents of the closet all over our bedroom). They attempted to fine us for having "trash" on our balcony which was actually a stack of firewood for the fireplace & yet they do nothing about the neighbours who leave bags of trash sitting on the tops of their cars in the parking lot. From the day we moved in, I complained of smelling gas (range, oven & heating are all gas powered) and reported it to the office several times as our fire alarm/gas monitor would go off every time we used the oven. They would send maintenance out who simply claimed i was making it up. It wasn't until I had a PSNC tech come out with a sniffer that they finally replaced our oven due to a gas leak and even then i had to fight tooth and nail for it. We couldn't attach the hoses for our washer when we first moved in because someone had painted over the hookups and they decided to zip tie our hoses on. wtf?! Oh, and maintence has a tendency to help themselves to whatever they want too- I used to keep a bowl of sweets out on the counter (usually seasonal depending on what's available. ie: mini candy canes for xmas, jelly beans for easter) and several times I came home to find my bowl half empty or only a few left in the bottom. It makes me wonder what else they've taken considering I haven't been able to find my digital camera since the first couple of weeks we moved in. They've also left my door unlocked and I'm at the point that I've requested they not enter the property unless someone is home to supervise or it's an emergency. It's a large open space without much storage room. Great if you just have furniture or very few belongings. It's difficult to heat in the winter, even with the fireplace and now that it's coming into summer, we've found that its nearly impossible to cool the place without blasting the AC at ridiculously low temps all day and night. We've found several roaches, spiders and wood ants in the apartment too which aren't from a lack of hygene and cleanliness- I'm exceptionally particular about the place being clean & organized. The outrageously obnoxious neighbour across the hall finally left after a 12 hour fight with his girlfriend that involved broken windows, punching walls, slamming doors and the cops knocking on doors 3 times in one week- but it should never have gotten that far. The office should've intervened and I'm sure I'm not the only one who reported them yelling at each other in the middle of the day. That alone shows that the office really could care less about the problems in the complex. Overall, i keep to myself and refuse to have much to do with the neighbours- I find them all a little odd and somewhat creepy to be honest. The landscaping is awful and beware of the overwhelming number of mutant sized mosquitos that inhabit the pool area. There's no gym either. The trash and recycling area is pretty disgusting most of the time as well & the bushes surrounding the trash compactor desperately need to be cut back, if not taken down completely for safety's sake. My first impression of the apartment we're currently in was that I needed to escape immediately. It's exceptionally dark and compartmentalized- i felt like the walls were literally closing in on me. While I loved the layout of the two bedroom, both layouts are overpriced for what they are. And don't believe it when the office tells you they rarely have an apartment available and that they're at 99% capacity. I see people moving out on an almost weekly basis.
