Resident 2003 - 2006

7/19/2006

Things have definatly changed....for the worse

Let me first begin by saying I used to apart of the management team at Northcliffe and I have also been a resident from 2002-2003 and then again from 2003-present. I understand the ins and outs of the property management business and the bottom line is you have to make your residents happy or at least have some compassion and understanding for them. Just to shed some light on some of the things we have had to endure lately:
A) It is not fare to residents for a new management team to come in and begin raising rents by large amounts reguardless of the financial state to the property, that is not the residents fault and they should not be penalized for it. As it was stated to me when I raised this point " that's why Northcliffe is in the state is in now because the prior management co. gave out too many concessions."

B) Changes that affect the dialogue of the lease such as "when rent is late the resident must pay MARKET rent and the additional late fee" should be made only when a new lease is signed. One can not just send out a notice making these changes. What is the point of a legally binding contract (lease) if you can change it whenever you want? But our management has tried it.

C) Unprofessionalism or unable to relate! Previous managers and office staff-Nicole (2001-2002), The blond girl w/brown (2003-2004), Veronica and Hope (2004-2005) were all pleasant people and seemed to be able to relate to residents and Northcliffe's target market COLLEGE KIDS better than who is there now. They may have been stern or even demanding at times but they treated you with respect and concern and I appreciate all of them. Even though many of the residents here now are young we still deserve respect. The current managent is nasty, snobish and very unconcerned.

I will end with this, I used to love Northcliffe but now I look around and many of the long time residents ther were here when I worked here I moved away and that is sad. Yes it is and older property and with that come certian maintence and upkeep issues, and yes there are college kids here so there is noise, and even security is not gauranteed anywhere but the real problems lie with in the office and the way residents are treated. I know that they read this and they should really look at what many residents have said and make changes accordingly. Oviously their reputation and occupancy depends on it.

I regret to say that I would not refer anyone here and I urge all on lookers to look elsewhere as I myself can not wait to leave. (it really makes me sad b/c I had a true love for Northcliffe!!)
