Worst place I've ever lived

I rented a one bedroom apartment on a short term lease and have lived here approx. 6 months. I have hated almost every second of living here. In fact, after just reading another complaint written here, I have to wonder if I have that man's old apartment! My sink often backs up with dirty water from my upstairs neighbor and one of my closets smells of mold. When I moved in, I asked about it and they said it was fine. The smell has never gone away even with plug-ins placed in the closet. The noise at times can be unbearable. I live on the lower level and the neighbors above me are up at all hours of the night, which has woken me up many, many times. During the day, I can hear them moving chairs across the floor, listening to music, and arguing. I barely hear anything from outside, but I can hear all the inside noise without a problem, which in itself is an issue. The other dogs in the complex do roam free as someone else mentioned. The owners are no where in sight and do not bother with something as simple as picking up their dogs' waste! It was so bad this winter that there was a whole parking space covered in dog waste and all the snow banks near the front door to the building were covered as well. When the staff was told, they said they were aware of the issue and would have it resolved. They picked up only the waste in the parking spot. The heating bill here is outrageous! The furnaces are from the 80's so they are anything but efficient. The beautiful screen doors aren't insulated well and you can feel the draft when it gets cold. My heating bill cost the same as my friend who lives in a 3 story, 1800 sq ft home and my apartment is just over 1000 sq ft. He also kept his temperature at 70 to 75 while I never go over 70. The staff leaves you letters at your door for everything! If they want you to renew your lease, you get a letter. Two weeks later, you get another letter. If you haven't paid your apartment fees the day before they're due, you get a letter. If they have any kind of party, you get a letter. I have received no less than 2 letters a month since moving in. All I can say is, I should have gone off the first impression I received when viewing these apartments. I went into the office 10 minutes before they closed and was told to come back another day. The person than followed me out as I left and locked the door. This is not the place to live if you want peace and quiet. The only perk of living here has been seeing the wildlife that live around here, but to be honest, I would gladly give that up to have the past 6 months of my life back. I would never recommend this place to anyone. **Update I wrote the above before I moved out, but feel I should add a bit on the move out process for the serious lookers. The last 2 weeks or so of my lease, the wildlife was becoming, let's say, a bit of an issue. Raccoons started taking over the parking lot at night...lots of raccoons. Management didn't do anything even though myself and another renter called about the issue. When I moved out, I left the apartment spotless. And I do mean spotless (cleaner than when I moved in). The office called me to tell me they were going to charge me for new carpet because the carpet in my apartment was ruined. They claimed my dog had defecated all over and that the carpet was new when I moved in. Even said that since the spots weren't visible on the top, I must have let my dog go potty then cleaned it up right away. (Uh, right.) It was not pleasant conversations to say the least. Thankfully, I had before and after pictures as well as witnesses who knew the carpet wasn't new when I moved in. I told the complex I would sue them if they tried to charge me for the carpet. Let's just say, I didn't get charged, but I have a feeling the person who rents that apartment next will be. Beware if you have a pet...seriously. Those are only a few of my stories. Trust me, they do not get better.
