Pleasant Place to Live

I have lived at the Highlands for almost 2 years with my fiance and have been very happy with our stay, but with any apartment there are always imperfections. My only REAL complaint is their snow removal. The last snowfall they did a horrible job of scooping the sidewalks and didn't even bother to scoop the mailbox areas. In result, all the areas they failed to scoop were packed down and turned into sheer ice. The streets and parking are filled with packed snow and ice. Almost a week after the snowfall I tried reversing out of my parking spot and almost lost control, going less than 5 mph, because I was parked on nothing but ice. It has really got from being annoying to being a safety hazard. Other than snow removal, I have been extremely happy with the Highland View. The apartments are really nice (especially for the price), friendly and helpful staff, and great location. You can hear every little noise from the apartments in the hallway, but that never really bothered me. As far as hearing noise in other apartments in your apartment... we rarely do hear anything... minus people walking up stairs or toilets running. Really not that big of a deal for me. One thing I would like to address is the first turn into the complex. It is really a safety hazard and wasn't the best option when building the complex. I've seen a lot of people almost get into wrecks turning that corner, including myself. Just food for thought. I definitely would recommend this apartment to others. However, I think a person needs to ask themselves a few questions before considering not only the Highlands, but an apartment in general... #1. Are you okay with being able to hear other residents and vise-versa every once in a while? Face it, you are living in a building with 50 other people and you would have to live in a place made by god himself (or just pay a crap ton) in order to not hear absolutely anything. It is just not realistic to expect to not hear your neighbors once in a while. #2. Parking. Although I have never had a problem at the Highlands I know this is a common problem at apartments. That is just one of the cons of living at an apartment. I deal with a lot of crappy drivers/parking jobs and I just have to learn to deal with it. That is something that is somewhat not in the control of the apartment staff. #3. Staff Problems. Again I have never had any problems with our staff. I feel like I have been an ideal tenant and really haven't had to personally deal with the staff. In most cases, as long as you are following the rules your relationship with the staff should be golden. If you can't deal with any of those points than I wouldn't waste your time at looking at an apartment in the first place....you are better suited for a house.
