Resident 2004 - 2009

3/12/2014

I swear I'm scarred for life after living here. You have your usual complaints, like trashy neighbors letting their kids run around and scream at the top of their lungs, couples fighting at all hours of the night, being able to hear anyone in the building so much as sneeze, etc. The place is a decent size for two people or maybe a couple with a child. But the buildings have bugs, the pipes are crap, at best there are only 2 washers and 2 dryers per building (that's 12 units sharing those machines. Some buildings only have one of each and people get nasty if you leave your stuff in for more than a minute after its done). The windows are drafty and don't be surprised if you get wasps and stuff coming in through a supposedly closed window. Oh, and speaking of bugs, I tried taking a roach I had found to the manager to show her that we had them and needed the place to be sprayed, and she told me that I was mistaken, and it was a junebug. Any idiot can tell the difference between a junebug and a roach; they look nothing alike. Cheap---- just didn't want to have to have the money spent to take care of the infestation that they are legally responsible for. I have seen the oddest and most terrifying things while here. For odd, there was one white trash couple living in a 2 bedroom with their 3-year-old daughter and more pets than anyone needs, one of them being a baby freakin' alligator. They claimed that it shouldn't be illegal to keep one as it's "just the same as having a dog". They also kept it in a tiny aquarium and fed it once a month so it wouldn't grow too fast. They ended up getting kicked out, thankfully, though I don't know if it was for that or one of their drunken rampages in the parking lot. Then there's the bomb scare that went down when I was in middle school. I guess it wasn't anything too dangerous, just someone hoarding a bunch of ingredients who called the cops and threatened to do something. Wasn't too fun. The worst thing that happened to me there though was the time I was just sitting in my living room at 6 AM when I heard a key enter the lock and start to turn (the only two people who should have had a key were myself and my mother, who was asleep in her bed at the time). Got to the door before it opened fully and slammed it shut, putting the chain on. When the office opened, my mom stormed in and explained to the manager what happened. She told her that at some point, the previous manager (the daughter of Kelly, the manager mentioned by several people below), had made copies of the master key and had given them to some of her (druggy) friends. Nice that they didn't feel the need to tell their residents of possible danger of a stranger walking into their place. Or change the locks BEFORE one of them tried. I still worry about what could have happened if I had still been sleeping. We got the hell out of there as soon as we could. Good thing, too, because just about a year ago, I was forwarded an article about a shooting that occurred there. Unless you are desperate for a place, DO NOT live here.
