Resident 2010 - 2011

2/17/2011

The one-bedroom apartments are spacious and there is laundry facilities on the premises...but before this swoops you in beware of the negatives of living at maple gardens. There is adequate parking for everyone, however it's going to cost you. MG nickel and dime you for everthing. Guest parking sucks!! Your guest are going to have to pay to park on the premises when they visit (free for first 45 minutes, $2 for 46 minutes - one hour; $6 for one to three hours, $10 thereafter, and $15 automatically if they lose the ticket). Not to mention parking is in a designated area and it can take them up to 10 minutes just to reach your apartment and up to another 10 minutes to get back to their car. The landscaping is good. They spend a lot of time working on the outside than the inside. You will have to contact Maintenance numerous times to get something fixed. Security is tight about letting people on the premises who do not live there, however God forbid there is an emergency in you apartment because they take their time getting to your apartment and handling the matter. They are also unprofessional and corrupt. I needed them to let me into my apartment building and they literally told me to wait and that they will get there when they get there, which was totally uncalled for. Don't bother asking to speak to their supervisor, because they will write you up and claim that you are disorderly just because you asked to speak to their superior. Also, the property manager is okay with having a registered sex offender living on the premises, even with a daycare on the premise. So those with children please take all safety precautions. You will be living in the heart of Irvington with all the crime, gang violence, and corrupt police. They have a serious pest issue and pest control going to some apartments once a month (not all) does not fix the problem. BIG, HUGE cockroaches are crawling around, especially on the bottom floors. There is a mice problem as well. Depending on which building you live in and who your neighbors are, the buildings are usually quiet. However, the walls are thin and you can hear everything going on beside, beneath, and above you. The staff are nice and professional until you sign the lease and give them your money. Guarantee you would want to live there for a year or more...save your time and money.
