Resident 2005 - 2006

12/28/2006

I moved to Hunter's Chase apartments about a year ago and at first, everything seemed okay. But after living at this nightmare for a bit, just how terrible this place is became obvious.

First, the blinds they have waiting for you are of the cheapest make. Simply opening the window ripped one of mine apart. It's as if they want you to ruin as many as possible so they can charge you $30 for a pair of $5 blinds. Next is the horrendous stench that wafts in on a nightly basis from the wastewater treatment plant next door. This feature was conveniently left off of the brochure. Parking is okay, but don't you dare stay out late. If you get home too late, you'll end up parking a good 100 yards away from your apartment. Not a big deal, unless it's raining. Other fun things are the annoyance of the junky metal door that leads to the pantry that you have to close to open the fridge. The thing fell off the rails almost every day. The balcony is so old and untreated that walking out there in bare feet is a sure way to get splinters. Not to mention the mystery nails that are hidden all over. I could seriously sit here and rant about the low quality for paragraphs and paragraphs.

Even worse is management. It seems like there is something going on outside every day. Mowing, weed-whacking, sanding, and other break-fixes never seem to stop. Don't even dare ask for managements help with a noisy neighbor. The people upstairs from us were so noisy at times, it sounded like a Godzilla movie. They often banged around so loud that the lights on our dining room fixture would flicker. Now, despite how many calls we made to management, nothing was ever done. I doubt they ever sent a notice or anything like that. If you ever want to meet the absolute most wretched person ever, then please visit the manager assistant at this dump. To say she is nasty would be doing her no justice. All we wanted to do was get out of our lease a month early. Not only were we shot down, but given the worse attitude imaginable in the process. Now mind you that we've never missed a payment, had any problems with anyone complaining about us, or anything of the sort. I guess the greed was too much to overcome. I won't even get into the $200 dollar electric bills thanks to old shotty equipment- even in Spring when no heater or AC were running. Or the dead phone lines that the apartment complex refused to have fixed. Yeah. We had to pay for that out of our own pocket. Or the hoards of silverfish that call Hunter's Chase home.

In summary, no matter how desperate you are, or if you for some reason actually think this is going to be a nice place to live, take my and what seem to be so many others advice. Avoid Hunter's Chase. You'll thank me for it.
