Resident 2002 - 2006

4/28/2007

The two-bedroom apartments are small and the rooms oddly designed.

I lived on the first floor across from the Manager's office. I figured since I lived alone that would provide some safety...and yet one day someone cut into my screen window and was able to climb inside to steal a video recorder. The manager told me I had to pay for the replacement screen because I didn't tell her of the event right away!

A cocaine dealer was arrested in the complex while I was there. When I asked the manager why she didn't inform me of the crimes in the area and specifically of that complex, her reply was "I don't have to tell you that!" One night while taking out the trash (a rather long walk around the complex) I was followed by some teens who were smoking pot and coming too close for comfort so instead I kept walking until I walked back to my aparment. (Those teens were not living in the complex)

The Manager was always a bit short-tempered with her customers, leaving little notices to keep the dumpsters clean (there weren't enough dumpsters for all the tenants and tenants were placing recycables around the containers and not in them) or else she would personally make sure anyone throwing trash on the gound was fined. Every little infraction was followed with threats of eviction or rent increases.

Many officer workers quit while I was there, and they were often the only really nice people there besides the maintenance personnel. The managers were hard on their office workers.

Drivers would speed down the road but nothing was done, no speed bumps installed. The manager said that is out of her control. The pool was more often closed than it was open during the summers, and again she said that was because they couldn't find a life guard.

Spanish-speaking laborers worked the lawns which were always well-maintained. Even on snow days they made sure the sidewalks and parking areas were quickly shoveled and plowed.

But otherwise I didn't mind the place, the neighbors were diverse and quite nice. The place was quick to most things I enjoyed going to, like the State Parks and the shore. If there was any maintenance to be done the local plumber or electrician (both who spoke English) were always there to fix the pipes, the wires, etc.
