Resident 2013 - 2015

6/30/2015

This place is horrible! We all have horror stories but the shower pipe spraying water into the wall, causing the paint in the kitchen to bubble up on the first day should have been a sign. That took 2 weeks to be resolved. I have been here 2 years and have seen nothing but the property and community degrade. Let's start with the contract, she will raise the rent price in the middle of your contract even though you have signed for a specified price unless you want to hire a lawyer to debate it. And that little box you check that warrants you 24 hours notice before someone enters your apartment (that they have to abide by law), they don't care! I have woken up twice before and walked out of my bedroom yawning to find a maintenance guy standing there wide-eyed saying "well I knocked". The common area of lawn is usually flooded with water and trafficked through by strangers and adjacent apartment community residents. If you are on the first floor, your sliding glass doors and whatever you are doing, become a museum exhibit for whoever traipses by at the time. I have had strangers shout obscenities or just generally say random things to me from the yard or while I am trying to relax in my home. (If you want to live here keep your blinds closed at all times and live in a dark cave) This apartment community is located in Western New York, so there will be snow. This past winter, with all the storms and heavy falls, they managed to plow the parking lot three times. Yes, 3 whole times during the season. On average there was two inches of packed snow for a parking lot, you'd better have a 4 wheel drive if you want to live here. It took over a month before anyone managed to shovel the walkways to the apartment. I guess it's really hard to do with the drifts that from that block the doors to the buildings. I found that if you really put your shoulder and weight into the door you can push enough snow aside to actually leave the building when that happens. I called Sandy about these issues and she said that it was out of her hands and to contact the corporate office. I did and they said it was up to Sandy. Anyone like merry-go-rounds? The community, well what can I say? It's mostly foreign exchange students who go to the nearby college and move in and out every 6 months or so. Between the movings and the lack of customs and courtesies, expect doors to slam throughout the day and night, shouting/yelling in the hall, and the weekly vomit piles in the front yard/garden. Lord forbid you have the apartment over the basement, you will hear that door slamming all day and night as well as the washer and dryer doors slamming, not to forget the constant hum of the dyer and the banging of the water pipes against the wall from the washing-machine. (I contacted Sandy about the pipes issue because it was killing me, nothing happened. 3 weeks later I personally installed new and more water pipe retaining brackets to stop this.) ((I hope you are a handy-man if you live here)) Really though, how else does a person fall asleep? (No really, I have forgotten.) Just FYI foreign exchange students don't know how to drive or park properly, although they apparently have their license, so expect what I have encountered which is to have your car dented/dinged/scratched/ or just plainly hit by carless college students who don't care or bother to report or even apologize. (My car now looks like a golf ball) I am paying $1130.00/mo for this crap for the 1,100 sqft apartment. I am moving into a 800sqft apartment for $490 a month a few miles away. I would strongly reconsider your choice in considering this apartment.
