Resident 2006 - 2009

6/29/2009

Saddle Rock is probably the best property around. The apartments are large, there is great storage, nice layout. The community is clean, safe and quiet for the most part. Private entries are a dream! There is some noise from Sunrise highway but it becomes white noise very quickly. The complex is tucked away and many people don't even know it's here. The upkeep of the place is pretty decent. They change your air filters all the time! The electric and gas run me about 60$ a month, each. (electric sometimes higher in summer w/ ac) The office staff is nice and friendly. Joanne is extremely helpful and efficient. Betty is sweet, but pretty much useless - try to deal with Joanne. Don't be surprised if you see ants in your apartment, especially in the spring, but they are easily contained and the management will take care of them right away. I've had some issues with silverfish, but I usually get sprayed each year and they have definitely dwindled over the last 3 years. I hardly see any now. There is a big problem with feral cats in this complex because people feed them. I havent had issues with them, but I know people here who live near the culprits and I have heard a few horror stories. You will see cats roaming around a lot. Snow removal is fair at best and usually pretty slow. Be sure you have your own shovel if you move in. I didn't the first winter, but my upstairs neighbor was kind enough to free me from my apatment and free my car from the lot. (Most of the people here are very very nice.) The parking lot is often very icy!! The small section of sunrise hwy that you must ride on to get to SS Pkwy backs up pretty badly in the mornings. You have to learn to time your departure. Some days you breeze through, but on some mornings, especially when it rains, it can take you 15 - 20 to reach southern state!! There was a problem with the back security gate getting broke almost every day, but the guys usually replaced it pretty quickly. Sometimes I saw them doing it twice a day! It doesn't happen nearly as much anymore since they changed security companies and installed new cameras. Why they don't use metal gates, I don't understand. People would be much less inclined to drive through metal gates than the cheap wooden ones they use. You used to be able to view the front gate on your tv to check on your visitors, but that channel has disappeared, at least from my tv. Overall, I would reccommend living here. The problems are minor compared to the benefits.
