Overall this is a well-kept, pleasant place to live. The super is responsive and helpful and things are kept in working condition (and if for some reason something isn't working, there will generally be a sign about it in the lobby explaining when it will be back up). Heat and hot water were pretty reliable. There is one somewhat slow elevator, an open, wide staircase, and a usable laundry room in the basement. It's older-looking on the inside and outside, though some apartments are of course nicer than others. It can be very hard to get hold of the management by phone or email.
The building is close to a small park area, Yeshiva University, and a public elementary school, though not much else. The 1 train is a 10-minute walk away and the A train is 5+ minutes further. It's not the kind of community where you can feel totally safe walking around at night and many people in the neighborhood litter and don't pick up after their dogs.
