Resident 2006 - 2007

1/15/2007

I sort of fell in love with this place when i looked at it. it's small but i was ok with that, after all its my first apartment. the people in the office were really nice... the first 2 months or so. before i moved in the woman who showed me the apartment guaranteed me the apartment would be cleaned. the apartment came with a horrible smell!! i could not for the life of me find out where it came from. at first i was able to cover up the smell with candles but it got out of control. i scrubbed things like a mad woman and it was still horrible. so i pulled the drawer out from under the stove and i found pieces of moldy something, an old rag, a sock, dirt and dust, and old pasta and other food. there was also an ant problem. i had to buy so many ant sprays before i found one that actually worked. my heat in the bedroom works just fine, but the heat in the living room works for about an hour then is cold. the air conditioner in both rooms is not what i would consider air conditioning to feel like. i had to go and buy 3 fans to keep it tolerable! and i get cold very easily!! the washers and dryers are probably as old as the building. i have to put my clothes in the dryer 4-5 times to get them dry. so, i was paying $5-$6 PER LOAD of laundry. also whenever one of the dryers on the 4th floor is running it sounds like nails on a chalk board... which i can hear in my apartment. the deadbolt on my door locks and unlocks only when it wants to. i stand there and turn it but it just turns and turns and the lock is still out, or in... whichever i DONT want. also the water in my apartment takes up to 35 minutes to get warm. which made me late to work several times before i learned to wake up extra early so i could turn the shower on to let it heat up, even then it has to be all the way on hot to get a nice temperature. the same goes with the kitchen and bathroom sink. there is NO counter space (which obviously i knew before i moved in, just letting any potential renters know this). there is a HUGE moldy spot in the hall way across from my apartment which is an eyesore and also not safe. there is paint chipping off and everything. my stove have a burner that works only when it wants to (this is one thing they did have someone "fix"). my windows stick and then slam open or closed. my binds are broken in spots and most are yellow and one is white. the electric sockets are loose and plugs are always falling out... except for the ones which are painted over that i cant get a plug in. my apartment and the hallway smells like marijuana when someone in a different apartment is smoking it. i should NOT have to smell it. also the "intercom" which calls your phone is a pain. you have to go down and let someone in. and dont forget your key because you will be locked out. i was also STUCK in the elevator for about 10 minutes last week me and a few guys were able to pry the doors open. it was promptly "fixed". 2 days later i was in the elevator again and i was stuck for a good 45 minutes. so stuck that the fire department had to come and had a hard time getting it open!!!! it took FIREMEN a good 15 minutes to open it!!! after that then told me to take the other elevator and it would be ok, of course i dont dare take it and now that one isnt working!!!!! so carrying a ton of groceries up 4 flights of stairs is not something i was planning on! i also asked to see the elevator certificate because my family and i didnt like the sound of them or the fact that the slam into you half the time and the girl working "wasnt sure where they keep it". i was told to meet with someone the morning after who then couldnt see me, and i was told to come back monday morning and of course i wasnt able to be seen then either. i left my number to be contacted and never received a call. i was told i would be compensated for my troubles... lets see if this happens. no one here is helpful and in fact are VERY snotty!!! parking is also $40 extra a month at the east end garage (my car was broken into there). there are homeless beggars outside. i was told it would be a safe quiet neighborhood... its not. DONT MOVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!! its a waste of money
