Resident ā€¢

I thought this place was really nice... until I lived here.

I am a current resident of Lakepointe. I have only lived here 7 months now and already can't stand it. Yes, I read reviews that complained about bugs (get used to it, you live on a lake of course there are bugs) If that is your main complaint, move to a place with no lake and you won't have the bug problem! When I first viewed the place I fell in love with the natural view of the lake and the quality of the apartments with heat included. It seemed like the perfect place and I was sooo excited to move in after searching different apartments for over 4 months before finding Lakepointe. A one bedroom for $615 with heat and water and a washer and dryer seemed like a great deal... Now I can see why the rent is so cheap and the turnover is sooo large- no one wants to stay here after living out one year of their lease! I have quite a few complaints: A. On July 31st, we were given a move in date of Sept 1st, 2011. On August 19th, 2011 we received a phone call saying that the new apartments that the tenant who was living in our apartment was moving into, are not completed yet, therefore the move-in date needed to be moved back to October 1st, 2011. I should have gotten the hint of the nightmare this place would be from there. I complained because I had already given my apartment complex a 30 day notice and they were ready for me to get out! Where was I supposed to do?! They had no mercy of course and insisted on the later date. I was severely let down and upset but agreed to the later date. I received a phone call about a week later saying that Sept 20th I would most like be able to move in and that they were trying to get done ASAP but that Sept 20th was definitely the soonest possible. Suddenly I get a call Sept 1st from the original office girl I had spoke to and viewed the apartments with and she was asking me when I was getting the keys, I explained to her what all the other office people had informed me of and she said that NONE of it was true and that the apartment is waiting and she expects me to move in and pay NOW! I had to argue with her to get her to give us an extra week when it was their disorganization and lack of communication that caused the error... Needless to say a little part of me was happy that I got to move in before the date they had later given me! My mistake! B. The door handles are sooo cheap (like plastic mobile home ones) that after living here only 2 months, I got locked in my bedroom and had to break the door handle off to get out! C. The free washer/dryers that they boast/offer don't work very well at all and if I put any of my clothes in the dryer they get burn marks all over them... what is a dryer if you can't dry your clothes without ruining them?! Not to mention since I'm on the 1st floor, there is a drain in my laundry room floor that anytime someone above me empties THEIR washer, all the bubbles bubble up through the drain and cover my entire laundry room floor. I thought it was my washer leaking but kept testing it and nothing... I kept wondering why the floor would be wet sometimes when I would come home and finally saw it and took a picture one day... it will probably rot the floor but maintenance doesn't care. D. I received notices to move my property off of the patio for a 6 day period (March 26th-29th and April 3-6) for pressure washing and painting (which me and my boyfriend didn't like b/c we lost a LOT of plants and seeds that we were growing bc it was early spring during the time we had to keep them inside, but we of course moved everything anyways despite looking at everyone else's patios who DIDN'T move any of their things off their patios)... well 2 WEEKS LATER (TODAY) I look out and they are ACTUALLY painting and have my whole patio setup ripped apart sitting all over the place and had broken one of my VERY expensive solar lights as well as a medium tomato plant we had grown from seed. We would have moved everything so that our property would NOT have been broken by the disrespectful maintenance men but they gave us NO NOTICE... I went to the office to tell them I want my lease voided because my property is being vandalized by the idiots they hired so we will see what they do! E. Although I only have one vehicle (2 are permitted for a one bedroom) I have to park in the next buildings parking lot because there are NEVER any spaces when I get home from work at 10pm especially on Fridays and Saturdays. I feel bad doing this because I am taking someone else's spot so they probably have to park farther away from their apartment! I would advise anyone looking at these apartments to keep looking- they aren't the paradise that they seem to be. Not one bit.
