Resident 2005 - 2007

4/30/2007

If you asked me a month or two ago, I would have told you that Preston Pointe at Shannon Glen is a great place to live. What made it that way? The staff were the friendliest leasing consultants I've ever known. They did what needed to be done in their job, while making the resident feel secure in their home. But then, the management company decided to replace the property manager, who had been here since the property was built and helped develop community relations between the residents. This decision will probably prove to be the worst one NRP Group could make and not in the best interest of this community.

There has been a recent outbreak of vandalism in the amenity facility, which has caused the new management staff to only open the amenities during business hours. During the two years I have lived at Preston Pointe, there have been issues with vandalism in the past, but the previous staff had gotten it under control. They developed relationships with parents and children which enabled them to gain respect and thus aleviate the vandalism problems.

So, if you want to move to a family friendly community, I would not choose Preston Pointe at Shannon Glen. It has been said that the new manager thinks there are already too many kids here and wants to meet all the children in a family before she will approve a new resident.

Since the change in management staff, there have been a lot more issues with noise problems with people playing their car radios full blast and dancing in the streets. I don't feel confident that I could go to the new staff to report this problem.

When I moved to Preston Pointe two years ago, I planned on living here until I was ready to move into a house. Even though there has been a lot more domestic crime in this area than I experienced when I lived in other communities, I felt confident that the leasing staff was looking out for the residents and had the best interests of each individual in mind. A security officer was implemented duing the summer months in 2006 and there was a plan to do the same this coming summer. This is not part of the plans of the new manager.

One more thing to point out how un-family friendly this community is becoming. For the past couple of days a lawn company has been here spraying the grass with a chemical. I just spoke with the man doing the spraying and asked if it is harmful for children and pets. He said yes. Well, in about three hours there will be children running all over the lawn he just sprayed. Who is going to take responsibility if the children get sick from playing on a lawn freshly sprayed with lawn chemicals?

Well, approach this community at your own risk. As for me, I'm moving out as soon as I can.

I guess it is just the corporate world's way to make this place continue to look like a pretty painted picture and the kind of community you would want to raise your children in. But the reality is, it is turning into a ------.
