Almost Tenants
My Wife and I had applied for a 2 BR apartment, paid our app fee & deposit, were told we had an apartment - then received a call 2 days later stating that the current resident (who had already given their notice to vacate) was no longer going to be moving out on the scheduled date (move-out was pushed back 2 months). We were then asked (expected) to re-arrange our schedule to accommodate this person (keeping in mind this happened within a month of when we were supposed to move). We had already lined up a moving truck, movers, and submitted our notice to vacate at our previous apartment. Seeing as this was a major problem and we could not extend at our previous apartment any further than we already had - we asked for a refund of our deposit/app fee. They agreed, and seemed to have submitted the refund request around 4/24/11. We were told they would expedite the refund process and could possible receive our check within 7-10 days (we didn't - and were then told it could take 30 days). It's now 5/25/11 and we still have not received our refund - Management's response to our most recent check on the status of our refund: "I'll request a follow-up from my accountant and get back with you." In the end - we found a better/cheaper apartment a few minutes/miles down the road - and I'm glad we never moved into this place. Judging by how our situation has been handled - I would hate to see how this place is mis-managed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis!Share This Review
