Resident 2007 - 2008

11/17/2012

I lived in the small one bedroom layout on the first floor. Very quiet! My neighbors to the right had a baby, whom I never heard through the walls, and from the upstairs I only rarely heard footsteps. It was the perfect size for me, and I even had room for family to stay over. I loved having a small patio area that overlooked the grounds. Parking was amazing! I always had a spot right in front of my unit, and although parking was not assigned, my neighbors and I had an unspoken agreement to always park in the same spot. In any case there were nearby open spots as well. Management did their duty; I always paid rent face to face on the way to checking my mail, and they would ask how things were. I only ever had one maintenance request; upon first moving in, the garbage disposal backed up, and the maintenance worker responded within 24 hours, was very friendly despite the smell from the disposal, and even showed me how to turn the "key" to get it working again should it happen in the future, which it did not. Landscaping was always kept up. The swimming pool was an active, great place for families with kids.. I went swimming one time with my neighbor and her son, but typically it's not my thing and was definitely kid-dominated so you couldn't really get in laps. I had visited every affordable complex in the Yukon and El Reno areas, and even some in OKC, and this was not only the MOST affordable place for what I wanted, but very convenient to the Turnpike, safe even for a single female, friendly neighbors who watched out for my cat that sometimes wandered too close to the highway (she is street-smart and would never have gone onto the road, but I appreciated the concern), etc. Biggest pros were having the washer/dryer unit included in the apartment and having pet-friendly, very clean, quiet, safe housing! No hassle ever from management. They never entered my apartment for any reason other than my single maintenance request. In the 8 years since my first apartment, this has always been the place I hope to find again in whatever town I'm in; Whitehorse was my favorite place to call home! Last but not least, I started with a 6 month lease and once that was up continued renting month-to-month until I moved on to a new job. Management could have raised my rent at any time after the initial lease was up, but they never did. I also got my full deposit refunded without a hitch (pet deposit is non-refundable, however, even if your pet does no damage.. typical).
