By the end of my lease, I would have lived in these apartments for 2 years (2008-2010). I would have moved out after my 1st year, but I just didn't feel like moving my stuff. I love my apartment, staff, safety of the community, and location to my job, but if you are a young person who likes to go out for entertainment, this IS NOT the place to be. These apartments are rediculously expensive for the lack of amentities and location. No gym, balcony, nothing... My rent is $800 for a 1 bedroom apartment in the middle of a farm town....wtf. It would be well worth it, if the apartments were in the city, but since it's in Palmyra where most rentrals run between $500-650, it's highway robbery. I will say that this place is a great for people just moving to central PA who are not familiar with Harrisburg (it can get a little dangerous in some parts). Recently, I have been having some trouble with noise from my neighbors. I guess no one lived above me for the 1st year of my stay, but now I swear these people have a roller derby going on every day or they weigh 800 lbs because I can hear EVERYTHING that is going on. Also, these apartments are fairly cold during the winter due to the old windows, so you have to crank up the heat to keep it comfortable.
I just want to note that the staff at this apartment is one of the best I have EVER had! They go above and beyond for it's residents everytime. They are always having a resident appreciation day and providing us with breakfast before we head off to work. Some of the maintenance men look like they just got out of prison the day before, but they are the sweetest people that you will ever meet. There are times that I've walked into the building and they will just ask me if I need anything looked at in my apartment.
I have loved living at the Shoe Factory Apartments, but I wish the price wasn't so expensive and it was closer to the city.
