Resident 2015

The Station is SUPERB. Truly, superb. LOCATION: Unbeatable. My apartment is literally 50 yards away from the the Ivy Ridge SEPTA station, where you can hop on the train for a 20 minute ride into Center City (i.e Jefferson Station). Ivy Ridge is one stop removed from Manayunk station, and is about 8/10 a mile away. As such, it is only a 15-20 min walk from the Station to almost all the bars and restaurants on Main Street (trust me - I make this walk several times a week). While that may be a further walk to the bars than an apartment on Main Street, the Station offers a much shorter walk to your car, which will be parked in the Station's spacious lot (or a private garage stall which you can rent) rather than crammed between two SUVs on a steep hill (because that was the only spot you could find in Manayunk). For ease of access to Philadelphia and its environs, I honestly don't think there is a better apartment complex around (and believe me, I looked for a long time before I settled here). CONSTRUCTION: The complex is brand new (completed within the last few months), and the builders clearly used quality materials. The walls are extremely well insulated, trapping heat but blocking out noise (specifically the noise of the train that runs right past the front door - though you wouldn't know it). The floors (faux hardwood in the living spaces, tile in the bathrooms, and carpet in the bedrooms), doors, and windows (double pane, insulated storm windows) are all of solid construction. In the kitchen, granite countertops (including a breakfast bar) and stainless steel appliances (including a dishwasher) are standard. Central heating and A/C, and the unit is wired for Verizon Fios. There is a porch in every unit, complete with an external storage closet. My porch happens to face the bike path and the river, which makes for a nice view after work. AMENITIES: In the unit: Full size washer and dryer; dishwasher (as previously mentioned); blinds installed on all the windows; central heat and A/C (again as mentioned). Community: Fitness Center (it's a legitimate gym with a smith machine, treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, and a multipurpose weight machine - not one treadmill and a medicine ball like some apartment "gyms"); Bike sharing program - sign out a bike for whenever you like and ride it on the trail! incredible amenity, considering that you're "renting" a brand new Trek bike for FREE); there is also a picnic area with charcoal grills. SAFETY: All buildings are controlled access. To prevent train commuters from stealing Station parking spots, parking stickers are forthcoming, along with demarcated parking spots for each unit. The train station, parking lot, and buildings are all very well lit at night, and I have always felt very safe at any hour of the day or night. STAFF and MAINTENANCE: I saved the BEST for last. Led by the incomparable Nancy, the managerial team at the Station is fantastic. Every question or concern that I have had since I moved in has been addressed immediately and with an exceptional result. Nancy and her staff know that they are running a business, not a dormitory, and they conduct their business with great professionalism. Keith, the facilities manager, has been very responsive to my maintenance requests, completing work orders effectively and efficiently. While they may "just be doing their jobs," I am still appreciative of their genuine efforts to enhance my stay at the Station. OVERALL: Under its present management, I wholeheartedly recommend the Station at Manayunk!
