I lived at Webster Hall for 6 years. I loved the convenience of it initially, but it went way down hill in 2002.

When I first moved it, the building was comprised of professional students & elderly folk; my neighbors were friendly and polite, but then Webster Hall began renting out floors of the building to CMU students and the management staff repeatedly turned over.

My apartment door was repeatedly banged on in the middle of the night by drunk students. Damage was done to the exterior of my apartment, and the hallways smelled of pot & alcohol. It was a rotten situation to be stuck in.

Sadly even after I reported the harassment and damage, Webster Hall management did absolutely nothing; they told me the dorm students weren't their responsibility.

The situation was finally addressed when I contacted CMU's campus police, but Webster Hall management was pitiful. They wouldn't let me out of my lease early. You'd think with all the $$$ they charge for rent, you'd at least feel safe in your own apartment.

I couldn't wait to move out and will never recommend anyone else live there, which is such a shame since I lived there so long. Oh, upon moving out, I was returned none of my security deposit.

Believe me, you don't want to live here. There are way better options around.
