Parking is a free for all and not regulated at all by management. Walls are paper thin...I can hear four sets of neighbors at once. Landscaping is adequate...nothing special. But the big problem with the grounds is that management does not take care of the mess pets leave behind...it is absolutely terrible. Understanding that it is the owners' responsibility, at some point management has to step in. Every complex I have lived in has had pets and this one is BY FAR the worst. Animals also dig out trash from the dumpsters and drag it around the area. Then I get a note on MY door to clean it up. Staff was helpful when I had issues with the apartment to be fixed. The maintenance guys are super friendly and always busy. The interior of the apartments and the clubhouse were nice but no where near "luxury." However, upon moving into the apartment, I was lied to on multiple occasions on the existence of military discount, waiver of security deposit, billing, etc. It could have been that this agent was new and didn't know any better, but he gave me the impression that he was trying to discourage me from living there. Military beware.

I agree 100% with this review. I'm also prior military and lived at the Highlands for 12 months in 2007-2008. Anyone with small children and those concerned with their health BEWARE. This apartment complex has a serious mold issue that they are aware of and they force you to sign a mold/climate control waiver prior to moving in. Their maintenance people, although very friendly and helpful, are untrained when it comes to handling mold. They typically scrub the walls with bleach and paint over them, not realizing that bleach does not kill mold and they are only releasing the spores throughout the apartment. I had to hire my own mold inspector to prove to the mangement that the apartment was an unsafe living environment. Our respiratory health and the health of our pets has improved dramatically since we've moved.
