I've heard some horror stories about this place, which had kept me from moving in in the past.

I wish I had ignored them. Apparently the apartments that are studios overlooking the Tesoro gas station aren't the best, but the ones overlooking the Rental Office are quite nice, even if the carpet is a bit dated.

My apartment was acceptably clean when I moved in. The fixtures all worked. I have two lovely picture windows and a great cross breeze. I have a real freezer instead of a shoebox sized flap in the top of a fridge. (That's a rarity in Fairbanks!) The tub is HUGE. You can fit two average sized adults in it. The living room isn't huge but is adequate. Bedroom is plenty big. Bath is standard, decent sized vanity mirror.

For the electronically inclined, there are outlets all over the living room and bedroom, and I've yet to set off a breaker. I have a high end custom computer, so this is good for me.

The shower has lots of hot water with good pressure. The toilet is new. I have a pantry between the kitchenette and bath. Stove is on the smallish side but I can still fit a 13x9 pan in sideways.

There is a train that runs behind my building but I learned to tune it out almost instantly. Then again, my grandmother's house was by a train track so I may have an advantage.

I have a Southern balcony with complex provided chairs where I can have my plants in the summer and it's a perfect spot to have my morning coffee/tea/whatever.

The landlady puts flowers out all over every summer, which I love.

Cats are allowed with a $125 deposit, which is very reasonable. Some places want $500 plus pet rent. It's on a busy downtown-ish street corner so dogs really wouldn't be a good idea even if allowed.

Location is good for me though cause I work at one of the big retailers about a mile away.
