A Nice Complex Ruined by Poor Management

When my girlfriend and I first looked at these apartments we were very impressed. The complex looked nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, everything changes once you sign your name on the dotted line. We arrived with a few things on the day the apartment was supposed to be ready. There was furniture all over the balcony. The walls hadn't been painted. The carpet was dirty throughout and wet in one area from where the water heater was leaking (it took 2 months of jumping over the wet carpet and enduring the smell of mold growing before this was replaced). We were supposed to have all new appliances, but they were obviously old. They were even that weird puke color that was so popular in the early eighties; however the person showing me the apartment tried to assure me they were new (so insulting). The toilets weren't even installed. In short, it was a wreck. After a couple of months, we got most of the problems taken care of, but the trouble didn't end there. Maintanence is slow to respond if they respond at all. They spend most of their time just riding around in golf carts or hanging out in the office talking or watching TV in the clubhouse. We signed a 2 year lease, because we got a discount. Well 7 months into the first year they informed us that we have to move to a different apartment at the end of the year, because they are converting some of the apartements to condos. It wasn't just us though; they probably forced about 60 residents to move out of their apartments. We wanted to just leave and go to another complex, but they wouldn't let us out of our lease. So that brings us to the present. I just looked at the apartment they are forcing us to move into. It is in worse condition than the one we moved into the first time. Among other things, the bar counter is broken and slanted at such an angle to make it unusable, the carpet is covered in stains, and there is a huge hole in the ceiling leading to the attic. Despite all of these problems they claim the apartment is "rentable" and refuse to repair them. They also promised they would move the new appliances from the old apartment for us to the new one, but now they are saying we have to do that ourselves. Sorry to rant, but I wanted you to have a detailed picture of all that we have been through since moving into this horrible place. I've lived in 5 different apartment complexes and have never been treated so badly. PLEASE if you want to leave in a nice place where you will be treated like a human being and not just a monthly check, AVOID AUBURN CROSSING AT ALL COSTS!!! vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
