...but somebody has to stop them from deceiving people... In looking for an apartment to begin rental May 29, 2004 I came across Aspen Trail Apartments in Birmingham, Alabama. Britt Tatum showed me a vacant apartment that I found to be very nice. A week later I returned to put in an actual application specifically citing apartment 541, which she had shown me the week before. However, after I paid the application fee and deposit, she opened a book and expressed surprise that apartment 541 had already been rented. This occurred on April 12, 2004. She glossed over the ?error? by promising another comparable apartment, but on subsequent visits to the property, there was never a viable apartment available. Finally, last Friday morning, a week before my intended move date, she showed me an apartment that was very dirty, had no air-conditioning unit, smelled like pets, but Ms. Britt stated all these problems would be remedied. When I returned late Monday, no action had yet been taken. So with the track record up to this point I felt it was time to cancel the arrangement. I asked for return of the $150.00 deposit, but not the application fee. When I was denied this request and referred to the manager, the manager also denied my request for refund of the deposit, and did so in a most disrespectful, sarcastic and mocking manner. I mean: they treat you like criminal as somebody herein said! DO NOT LIVE THERE: THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY! THEY ARE THIEVES!
