I have lived in both Autumn Village and Ashford Townhomes. They both are very spacious and of course rent is very reasonable. When I first moved into Ashford Townhomes there was some confusion of when I was moving in. I was told one date aned when I called back the week before I was going to move to get the exact time they said I wasn't scheduled to move in for another week. So I had to find a place to store my stuff and stay. It was NOT fun at all.
My car had it's window broken into 1 time but nothing was taken. Hoover Police Department is not even a half a mile away and they are patrolling a lot. THere is a basketball court/tennis court that the kids hang around all the time and it's run down. There are 2 pools. When I moved in, 1 of them was full of algi and gross, the office said it was because the water pump broke but they had ordered a new one. I guess they lied because it's still gross. The water was in it for over a year, growing what ever kind of bacteria. The other pool is nice and clean. The fitness room needs a serious update!!!
There are LOTS of stray cats. I know that Hoover animal control has tried to catch the cats but some residence like to take the traps. At one point there were 4 cars all at a stand still because there were a bunch of stray kittens all around in the middle of the road. Because of the cats my dog gets fleas but she's treated so it really doesn't pose a huge problem.
I moved into Autumn Village and have had a MUCH better experience. They let me move in early. My apartment was clean. The only complaint is that the carpet was still wet when I moved it but not a big deal. I have great neighbors and we all kind of watch out for each other even though we don't know each other very well.
I know tons of people that live here too and they have had a good experience. I do like the office staff they have always helped me out. There are LOTS of kids, especially on the Autumn Village side that are always in the middle of the street but they get out of your way. The maintance comes within the day or next depending if they have emergencies.
So over all my only complaints:
STray cats
1st time i moved in the lack of communications (they have hired a some new people since then)
the run down basketball court/the one gross pool
bad lighting on Ashford Town home side
parking isn't the best
Positives:
hoover police is within walking distance same with the paramedics
piggly wiggly
dollar general
cvs all with in walking distance
2 pizza places
2 dentists
2 gas stations
hair place
fitness center
groomers station
** All within walking distance and VERY convienent*
