I moved into Barrington in the summer and by Nov. I had "unofficially" moved out. Most importantly, on my way home from work my roommate and I broke up a rather violent fight (about 10 teenagers and 5 kids under the age of 10) at the back of our building. I dropped my roommate off and on my way back one of the kids in the fight came running up to my car screaming at me to let him in. When I hesitated he informed me that the other boy had a knife and was going to kill him. When I looked over, the boy DID have a knife, so I let the first boy in my car and told him I would take him to the office. The knife was thrown at my car and hit my back windshield. When we reached the office, I informed the staff of what had happened... one lady headed to her car and immediately came back saying "I really don't want to have to fix my car if they damage it". After about 15 minutes of trying to convince the office staff that this was a serious situation, one of the under 10 kids came in to varify my story and about 15 minutes later they called the "onsite" security guard. I waited 45 minutes with the boy from the fight and others before I finally left... the "onsite" police man never showed. On a smaller note, my toilet leaked from the bottom, and I couldn't ever get anyone to come and check on it... until I finally fell one day and asked the management if I needed to contact a lawyer. When they finally sent someone out, they said they couldn't find a problem! It still leaks... one year later! There are enormous spiders everywhere, especially the stairways... even after I sprayed and cockroaches that love to live in the kitchen cabinets and drawers. Not to mention the fact that once you actually move in and are locked into a contract the staff feels that you no longer need to be treated like a human being!

We have not experienced the problems you have with our apartment. They have been to fix every order we have sent in by the next day, however I will say that there are a lot of kids running around the complex and I could see this fight happening very easy here. The on site police officer is also a Hoover police officer.
