I wish I still lived here.

I grew up here from age 5-14 (I'm 19 now). I didn't know how good I had it until I left. They are the biggest apartments I've ever seen (I lived in the 3 bedroom). Every room except the 3rd bedroom is spacious. The living room is huge, the second bedroom has 2 closets and a big window. My bedroom was always the dining room, and I never had a problem with space (twin bed, though). It's the only apartment I've ever seen with an eat-in kitchen. I'd love to have a kitchen that size again.
The thing I always hated about living in suburbian Birmingham is that you can't survive without a car because there's no public transit. But in Cahaba Heights, and particularly Breckenridge, you could probably do okay with a bicycle, walking, or a 49 cc scooter or something. The grocery store and gas station are right next to it, with Hardees and Brucey B.'s across the street. Just down the road is Rite Aid, Dominoes, Subway, a dentist, lots of things.
What I can't tell you about is the staff, current prices, upkeep or any of that, because I moved 5 years ago. I know that when I lived there, it was the best place imaginable. I didn't know this until I'd lived in other much more cramped apartments for the same or more money. If I could move this apartment complex to the city I live in now, or find something just like it, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Oh. If you have young kids, you might want to pick a downstairs apartment so you don't have to worry about your neighbors complaining about noise from jumping, running, etc. If you're worried about hearing your neighbors, go for upstairs.
