Cahaba Lakes

I have lived in Cahaba Lakes off and on since 2003 and yes there has been alot of things happen that shouldn't have. I am here only because 90% of the time they take care of my problems within a couple of days. There have been U.S Marshalls kicking in the drug dealers doors on Buck Horn Cove, a woman killing her estranged boyfriend and his new girlfriend, a Mexican shoot out at the 3500 block of Buck Horn Cove, a Mexican drug cartel murdering and slashing the throats of four other -------- that stole $400,000 worth of drug money on Buck Horn Cove and oh yes the infamous car fire weekend from hell. If you chose to live here there is a chance that during the summer you will have raccoons in your walls and roaches inside and out but mostly because you live on one of of the lakes. Parking decals don't help the parking situation. The courtesy officer is never around and it is very difficult for the maintenence staff to fix anything at all. ***If the staff tells you your new apartment is on Buck Horn Cove tell them to kiss your --- and run. There is only one way in and out of that street where most of the violent crimes have happened.
With all of that I can't believe that I still live here but I get along with the office staff and the summers at the pool are awesome. Look there is crime everywhere and it just so happens that Cahaba Lakes is always on the news because some of the local news people live here. I would advise that you carry a legal concealed weapon and don't hang out outside by yourself at night. Get renters insurance but not thru Cahaba Lakes.
This place used to be a party place when it was Hunters Pointe and was the place on 280 to live butalot has changed since the awesome days I once knew. Pay attention and be aware of your surroundings and you will be fine.
