I have just recently moved in to cahaba Lakes and I suppose I should have seen the signs of bad management when I had issues arise before I moved in.
1. my apt was not ready on the agreed upon date.
2. my carpet was filthy when I moved in. 20 days later, I had to rent a cleaner to do it myself.
3. my bedroom door was off the hinges and would not close. (3 days to fix)
4. Closet door would not close because frame is cracked. (RIgged by maintenance man)
5. Refrigerated is quite old and has been painted over. Original coating is chipping and you can see the rust. (Still waiting for someone to respond..I might die first)

Needless to say, All of these problems have been reported on my move-in date. Management seems to be incapable of fixing my issues. however, they seem to be very swift in cashing my rent check. The apt is ok but its nothing to brag about.

Your experience here is eerily similar to mine. I had to rent a carpet cleaner the first week because the carpet was disgusting and the place smelled like an ashtray in a zoo. Have you approached management about moving to another unit within the complex? The day I signed my lease, they gave me a tenant handbook that said you could move after 4 months (you have to give a 30-day notice and pay a $250 transfer fee). When I asked about it this week, they say they can't honor that and wondered where I got the handbook (??). Do they think I created it? I showed it to them and they took it to the office (probably to make a copy of the page in question). I've spoken to some neighbors that have been recently told the same thing. So much for living up to your own agreements!! Anyway, if things don't get better soon (and they usually don't here on Buck Horn Cove), I'll probably be leaving this apartment complex ASAP and making sure that NONE of my friends and colleagues ever consider moving here. I regret not finding this website before signing a lease. I also regret not spending a little more money to rent a place where you can feel safe walking from your car at night and where you can park your car in the same zip code as your apartment!!
