So I decided to move into this apartment because I could get a 2 bedroom for the price of 1 bed rooms on 280. I did this even after reading the posts about Cahaba Lakes (CL) on this site. I thought that if I got over in the townhouses over on the right side of the complex (the Chesapeake cove area) it would be alright.

When I first moved in, my AC would not cool the apartment. Only after a written threat to terminate my lease did they fix the AC. When winter came, the heater ran ALL the time and still didn't keep the house warm - and my power bill was 300$. Not even with a fire in the fire place was the living room warm. I complained and several times but ONLY after a written threat to terminate the lease as the apt was not room temperature did they come put in new ducting and fix the problem.

This afternoon I came home to a news crew videoing the apartment:

Someone got shot in the complex this morning!! From the link above "Shelby County Sheriff s deputies were dispatched to the scene and arrived at 10:08 a.m. to find a male who had been shot in the abdomen."

They have pulled out charter in favor of Suite Solutions. I am betting they are getting money from this company that Charter wouldn't pay them.

Also, the floors make noise ANYWHERE you walk. Here is another kicker, a sex offender lives here! Do a search for Birmingham as the city and shelby as the county on this site:

And you can see the ONLY sex offender in this city/county combo lives in this apartment complex. DO NOT LIVE HERE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN!!!

-- UPDATE -> This person might have moved but at the time of the orginal post he did live at this complex. This is not a lie or fiction, it happened. These people have poor background checks or don't care.

Reasons to NOT live @ CL:
1. thin walls / floors (you can hear your self and neighbors walking)
2. BAD heating / AC
3. Criminals live here (and commit crimes here)

Positives:
1. Price (much cheaper for a reason - no' back ground checks)
2. Location

I am lucky I imagine but I have had NO problems and no I do not work for the company so believe what you want.I have looked up the sex offender on the site you posted please check the address He lives across 280 ..2501 Westminster is not here in Cahaba Lakes. I cant imagine why there is such a negative on here I was out walking last year in the complex when the police camped out at the apartment where this sex offender was staying with someone here and trust me he is not in this complex as I say recheck the address. Also last week across 280 in another complex a lady had her car stolen and she was scraped up from the incident so please know that yes even though someone was found shot in his apartment it happens everywhere you go. Sorry you are not happy I have been here almost two years and I can drop by the office and they know my name just by seeing me now there are 800 apartments I am impressed that they even remember me. I passed out from getting overheated last summer and a grounds keeper found me and came to my rescue calling 911. I am as I say happy here just sorry you have not had the same experience as I have.

Same here, I am not associated with the company either, and this is un real that someone would get on here and post a bunch of lies all the while someone almost lost their life. I searched Westminster as well, and Westminster is not even in the community of Cahaba Lakes. Does this person posting these lies even live in Cahaba Lakes??? I am not saying that this place is by any means the best, and heavens knows I have had problems with my apartment in the past, but to get on here and post lies is something I will not do!!!

I totally agree with this posting. Every bit of it. I have lived in these apts. for 2yrs now. Why dont I move ? havent been able to afford anything else around here. Everything about this posting IS accurate. I know about the sex offender which I got something in the mail about., the out of site electrical bills due to bad insulation or bad duct work or whatever the problem may be. thin walls . I have had a water leak going on for months. Everytime it rains water comes in and makes an even bigger stain in the sheet rock. numerous water leaks from a pipe bursting in the wall. Sliding glass doors that do not work properly. All have been reported and nothing is done and if someone comes out all they do is look at it and say we will have to come back and take care of this. but they never do The parking spaces are to small, come count the dings on the side of my car. and the fact that they are pulling Charter Communications out of the complex is just another thing to complain about. with no regard to what it may do to customers who not only have their T.V. service with charter but their internet and telephone service with. and now with 2 shootings in the past 2 yrs one of which was just the other day and the other a double homicide. yea ya gotta question the background cks that are being done.

To the people that say they have lived there for two years, I lived there for two years as well. You may not have any problems while you live there, bc for the most part I didn't, but just wait until you decide to move out when your lease has expired-that is when they screw you over. I had to get a letter from a lawyer bc they claimed there were damages to the apartment-$500 worth. Which of course was a lie. When I sent the letter, they dropped it. But still there was alot of back and forth before the letter so it was a big hassle. So, in other words, wait till you move out and THEN tell us how much you love it.

So to the person who say that the statements are not true looks as if you need to check the facts. I stay next door to the sex offender and I am in fear each day for my six years old daughter.My lease is up next month, and i promise I am leaving this hell hole.And I think you work there for you to say that the statements are fasle.Know your facts before you write such a comment.
