Do not move into these apartments. They are unsafe! In 2007 a man was having an affair on his wife. The woman he was having an affair with came to their apartment and shot them both to death. Yesterday, August 20, 2008-Five people were shot to death. The door had been locked. (Check the newspaper, there was an article about it)
Also, Cahaba Lakes has been reported to the Better Business Bureau TWICE. The management is terrible, they will try to get even more money than your deposits out of you when you eventually move out (I had lived there for two years).

Five murders yesterday; their throats were cut. This place is not safe. I should expect a massive exodus from here. The low rent should give you a clue...if it's too good to be true........The main reason I left here in 2006 was safety; other problems were parking, noise, and unresponsive management. They failed to return my $50 gym key deposit even though I returned the key and got them to sign for the return. I also returned the apartment MUCH cleaner than how I got it. The fellow that inspected it when I was leaving told me he was impressed. I probably should have left sooner. Anyway, my best advice is to look elsewhere. I advise all my new co-workers to totally skip this place when they are looking for apartments. If you must live here (to save $), I recommend that you take the shortest lease possible, save your $, then go elsewhere. Good luck!!!

look i work for a apartment community in hoover and hear the same old hateful comments about ---------. let me set the record straight to everyone. first of all if you qualify to the fair houseing laws of alabama you are more then welcome to rent a apartment...anywhere reguardless to the amount of rent. the more you pay dont mean anything their are no promises to safety where ever you live. you can not treat people different or assume that based on their race they are going to have 10 people in a one bedroom apartment!!! and my personal option is that no one is to good to live next door to anyone !!!! loose all the hateful attitudes. god made everyone the same you may need to look in the mirror ....real good!!!!

Learn to spell much? You work for a piece of crap apartment community because you can't spell for ----. Housing not houseing-regardless not reguardless-lose not loose in that sentence. And work on your sentence structure!

**In Response to Leasing 202 above** I am sorry to disappoint this forum and the other forums here as well, but Leasing202 is absolutely correct.
I was employed in Southern California for years as a leasing agent and property manager, then worked as a regional throughout Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. Due to the Federal Fair Housing Regulations, it is totally understood by all professionals working within the property management industry, Real Estate, Mortgage, or Banking that it is illegal to deny housing to any individual or individuals based on:
Race
Color
Religion
Sex
Handicap
Familial Status
National Origin.
I recently called this community and posed as a person shopping for a place to live, and the individual that I spoke to on the phone was completely in compliance and in line with the responses they gave to the questions I asked regarding fair housing and other issues. Furthermore, they stated that credit checks and criminal background checks along with employment verifications are preformed on ALL applicants!
For example. How many of you knew that individuals employed within property management cannot guarantee that a community is safe to live in?? Nor can a community guarantee that you, your automobile or any personal belongings will be safe EVER!!
I FOR ONE can honestly say, that if there is a community anywhere out there that DOES guarantee the safety, and security of all individuals, I wish someone would let me know so that I can place a for sale sign in my yard and move into that community.
Again, Leasing202, this was awesome of you to post what you said. I can only imagine that things are pretty sad and the atmosphere pretty solemn over at Cahaba Lakes currently. I remember at a property I worked at many years ago in San Bernadino, California; there was, in one week, a fire that destroyed 4 buildings, and then a week later, an armed robbery in the parking lot and the individual was shot. He lived, but nonetheless, he was robbed, and shot. RACE WAS NEVER AN ISSUE!!!

In response to Anonymous who was responding to Leasing202 on 8/25/08, there's still the safety issue. When you called posing as a potential client did you ask them if they were doing anything to address the recent safety concerns that had been brought up in the media and with existing clients? Doesn't sound like it. And that is something that they are required by law to take care of once complaints have been filed. The whole point of this post is that it isn't safe bc of the violence.
