Since I have lived here, there have been people held up at gun point, car break-ins, 2 murders. 1 of these murders were of 5 men who were found tied up. They had been beaten and electrocuted before their throats were slashed. 2 weeks before this happened, 5 cars were broken into. One of which was MY OWN, and it was set on FIRE!!! 2 weeks after these murders, 2 more cars were set on fire! There is still glass and windshields laying around from the break ins that occurred when my car was destroyed. I asked the office what they planned on doing, and they told me to give them a copy of my police report to put in my file. Then asked me if anyone was mad at me. What a bunch of bs! Besides the violence, the parking is HORRIBLE! You have to park many buildings away from your own because there are 10 -------- living in one apartment, all with a car. The office is ONLY concerned with moving people in and making money. They started a "neighborhood watch" to make it appear that they are being proactive, however, the 2 cars were set on fire since the watch began. I urge you, if you are considering Cahaba Lakes as your home, turn around and RUN!
Since I wrote this, my car that was burned was towed by the complex. I was PROMISED by the leasing manager that it would not be towed while I found someone to salvage it. I finally found someone and my car has been towed. Of course the office is playing dumb because that is what they are good at.
Also, I am now paying twice as much for cable and internet because I am being forced to use Suite Solutions instead of Charter.
If you are considering Cahaba Lakes to save money, I promise in the long run you won't because of all the hidden and unforeseen expenses.
***New Update***
My brand new car that I had to get (since my other one was vandalized and set on fire) was rear ended in the parking lot. The back tail light was busted out and the bumper damaged. The parking is so tight and you have all these illegals who have no driver's licenses and can't drive. Of course no note was left, and I could not find a car with matching damage. And of course the office told me that they are not responsible for my car. According to them, they are not responsible for anything! My lease is up in 2 months, and I can't WAIT to get out of here!

ALL THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO TO MAKE IT SAFER AT CAHABA LAKES, IS TO GATE THE PROPERTY, POST A SECURITY GUARD AT NIGHT AND CAMERAS TO RECORD VEHICLES COMING IN AND OUT, AS A RESIDENT I THINK THAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO GO, UP THE RENT AND STOP THE RESIDENT REFERRAL DEAL! USE THAT MONEY TO KEEP THE CRIMINALS OUT AND THE RESIDENTS SAFE...ITS A SHAME WHAT PEOPLE THINK WHEN YOU SAY "I LIVE IN CAHABA LAKES" PEOPLE THINK ITS SECTION 8, GOVERNMENT HOUSING?? WTF?? THE MEXICAN GHETTO?? WOW!! CAHABA LAKES IS A NICE PROPERTY WITH EVERYTHING YOU COULD ASK FOR AS FAR AS AMMENITIES GOES,HUGE APTS AND TOWNHOMES WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT FLOORPLANS...THEY JUST HAVE GOT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE -------- AND THE CRIME...A GATE IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA, IM GOING ELSEWHERE WHEN MY LEASE IS UP IF THEY DONT DO SOMETHING, ANOTHER MURDER AND YOU CAN BET MY SWEETASS IM OUTTA THERE!!! REGARDLESS OF A LEASE OR NOT, THE LEASE SAYS "THEY CAN NOT GUARANTEE YOUR SAFETY" BUT UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH HAVE OCCURRED HERE,ALL OF THEM... THEY MUST DO SOMETHING NOW BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MAJOR ISSUE...AND THATS HOW YOU GET OUT OF YOUR LEASE PEOPLE...ITS CALLED A CLASS ACTION SUIT :)!!

If there is a class action lawsuit out there we are interested. The 5 murders happened on my block and my family along with several others vacated because we were fearful. I am a single female with a little girl. This is ridiculous!!

Hey thanks for the heads up. The owner of the house I am renting is putting it on the market and I am starting to look around for new housing. I've lived in several apartment complexes over the years and know all the drawbacks of apartment living, but seriously the problems described above take the cake. I believe I will take your the reviewer's advice and look elsewhere. So thanks again for the warning.

Just curious. What can you sue for?? I want to move out and Im going to form a class-action law-suit because 5 people lost their lives?? THAT would make the news for sure!! Think about the families of the victims. Please, tell me, what kind of a class action suit are you talking about?? I know the family members lost and suffered a great deal. What have you lost and suffered???

I personally have not mentioned a class action law suit. I have not lost a loved one here due to murder, and I am not about to stay around to see if that happens. There are many more deaths and murders here that have not been publicized. The management has a responsibility to maintain a safe living environment for their tenants. They have failed to do so. The neighborhood watch they started was a joke. It only lasted a couple of months. It was only formed because of all the publicity. If the residents don't come together and fight for their right to live in a safe environment, then nothing will change.
