Carriage Court is an ideal apartment for my needs. I work at UAB hospital, and I am also a student at UAB. When I first moved to Birmingham last year, I wanted an apartment for under $700/month. The only places I found were either not very nice in downtown/Southside area, or too far away. Parking was a problem (curbside). My savings on parking, gas, insurance and travel time is worth the slighty higher rent I pay here. Knowing where I am parked all the time is nice, too. The complex is quiet and well maintained. The management is very quick to take care of any issues (very few of them). Overall, I am very satisfied. I am going on my second year here. gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7

The maintenance of the grounds is slowly going downhill; no one cleans up trash or paper anymore and the landscaping plants/trees are neglected. The grass is never watered even without watering restrictions so it dies or gets thinner. The gate to let cars in and out frequently does not work - stays open for up to a week at a time. Yet even with those issues, it is still the best place to live downtown in its price range. With gasoline prices as they are, living near school or work is helpful. Security INSIDE the complex is generally good. Management and maintenance are very responsive and attitudes are good although generally many 'cheap fixes' are done.
